Sjálvstýri is a liberal, autonomist political party on the Faroe Islands. It is currently led by the Mayor of Klaksvík, Jógvan Skorheim.
Lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) rights in the Faroe Islands are relatively similar to that of Denmark. The progress of LGBT rights has been slower, however. While same-sex sexual activity has been legal in the Faroe Islands since the 1930s, same-sex couples never had a right to a registered partnership. In April 2016, the Løgting passed legislation legalizing civil same-sex marriage on the Faroes, recognizing same-sex marriages established in Denmark and abroad and allowing same-sex adoption. This was ratified by the Folketing in April 2017. The law went into effect on 1 July 2017.
Uni Jógvansson Arge is a Faroese journalist, writer, musician, singer, and a former international football striker. He is also a former handball player. He played 105 matches for the handball club Kyndil from Tórshavn and scored 693 goals for the club.
Tvøroyrar Bóltfelag is a Faroese football club from Tvøroyri, currently playing in the Effodeildin, the top tier of Faroese football. TB Tvøroyri is the oldest football club in the Faroe Islands, and also one of the oldest in the Danish Realm, in which the Faroe Islands are a self-governing country.
Víkingur is a professional football club in the Faroe Islands. The club was founded in 2008 after the merger of GÍ Gøta and Leirvík ÍF. The club is based in Leirvík, while the stadium is in Norðragøta. Both villages are part of the same municipality Eysturkommuna, located on the island of Eysturoy and about 5 kilometers away from each other. The club won the Faroese championship for the first time in the 2016 season. In the 2017 season, Vikingur won the championship again.
Same-sex marriage in the Faroe Islands, an autonomous territory within the Kingdom of Denmark, has been legal since 1 July 2017. Legislation allowing civil same-sex marriage and adoption was approved by the Løgting on 29 April 2016. The Danish Parliament approved the necessary legislative adaptations on 25 April 2017, and the law received royal assent on 3 May and went into effect on 1 July 2017.

Fróði Benjaminsen is a Faroese international footballer who plays as a defender or midfielder for Skála ÍF. Benjaminsen previously played for HB Tórshavn, B68 Toftir, Fram Reykjavík and B36 Tórshavn. He has appeared a record number of times for the Faroe Islands, and captained the national team since 2008. In 2015, he retired from the national team, but continued to play for HB Tórshavn in 2016. On 16 August 2016, Benjaminsen came out of international retirement, and was included in the Faroe Islands squad against Hungary in the FIFA World Cup 2018 qualification.
Høgni Reistrup is a Faroese singer, musician, writer and scientist from Tórshavn, Faroe Islands. He is the co-writer of the book Exit Føroyar ; he wrote it together with Heri á Rógvi. The books was published in 2012 and created a major debate in the Faroe Islands and in Denmark about the problems the Faroe Islands were facing with population decline in the islands, where the biggest problems seemed to be that half of the young people who moved away to study abroad never moved back again; especially the women did not move back again. After a period of six years with negative net migration in the Faroe Islands, the country saw an increase in the population in 2014 and 2015.

The 2015 IHF Emerging Nations Championship was the first edition of the IHF Emerging Nations Championship, organised by the International Handball Federation (IHF). The tournament was held in Pristina and Gjakova, Kosovo, from 20 to 26 June.
Turið Elinborgardóttir is a Faroese beauty pageant titleholder who was crowned as Miss Earth Denmark 2015. Three weeks before the Danish beauty pageant she was crowned as Miss Universe Faroe Islands on 25 July 2015 by the mayor of Tórshavn, Heðin Mortensen. Elinborgardóttir is the first Faroese national to compete in an international pageant. A Faroese designer, Laila av Reyni, designed her dress for the Danish competition, as well as the dresses of the other Danish contestants at the Miss Universe Denmark 2015.
Helgi Dam Ziska is a Faroese chess player. He completed the requirements for the title Grandmaster (GM) at the 42nd Chess Olympiad on 12 September 2016. He is the first Faroese player to qualify for the Grandmaster title. Ziska is the top ranked and the highest ever rated player from his country, and has been rated number one amongst Faroese chess players since the age of 16. He has competed at the Chess Olympiad since 2006, representing the Faroe Islands.
The 2017 IHF Emerging Nations Handball Championship was the second edition of the IHF Emerging Nations Championship held in Bulgaria under the aegis of International Handball Federation. The tournament was held in two cities, Gabrovo and Veliko Tarnovo, from 12 to 18 June 2017.
The Kosovo national men's handball team is the national handball team of Kosovo, representing the country in international competition. The team is governed by Kosovo Handball Federation. The national handball team started competing in international competition in 2014, following Kosovo's full status recognition from the International Handball Federation (IHF).

The Faroese Women's Super Cup is a football competition contested between the 1. deild kvinnur champions and the winners of the Faroese Women's Cup from the previous season.
The 2019 Faroe Islands Cup was the 65th edition of Faroe Islands domestic football cup. It started on 30 March and ended with the final on 21 September. B36 Tórshavn were the defending champions, having won their sixth cup title the previous year, but lost to KÍ in the quarterfinals. As the winner of the competition, HB qualified to the preliminary round of the 2020–21 UEFA Europa League.
The Faroese Confederation of Sports & Olympic Committee is the highest authority for sporting activity in the Faroe Islands. It oversees 24 sports associations and over 100 sports clubs for a population of 51,312.
The Handball Federation of the Faroe Islands (HSF) is the administrative and controlling body for handball and beach handball in Faroe Islands. Founded in 1980, HSF is a member of European Handball Federation (EHF) and the International Handball Federation (IHF).
