The Kolpak ruling is a European Court of Justice ruling handed down on 8 May 2003 in favour of Maroš Kolpak, a Slovak handball player. It declared that citizens of countries which have signed European Union Association Agreements have the same right to freedom of work and movement within the EU as EU citizens. Thus any restrictions placed on their right to work are deemed illegal under EU law. The legal actions in Germany set a precedent for professional sports in Europe, which have had a wide-ranging effect, especially in regard to English county cricket and European professional rugby.
Hummel International Sport & Leisure A/S, commonly known as Hummel, is a Danish manufacturing company of sportswear brand based in Aarhus owned by Thornico. Women Handball International League (WHIL), also known as Czech-Slovak Interliga, is a supranational championship created in 2002 that serves as the highest women's handball league in the Czech Republic and Slovakia. Following the end of the championship the four best-placed teams from each country play separate play-offs to determine the national champions. The inaugural edition was also contested by Hypo Niederösterreich from Austria.
Nadezhda Konstantinovna Muravyova is a Russian team handball player, playing on the Russian women's national handball team. She won a gold medal with the Russian winning team in the 2007 World Women's Handball Championship. At the 2008 European Women's Handball Championship in Macedonia she received a bronze medal, and was also named "Best Defense Player".

South East Handball Association League or simply SEHA League is a regional men's club handball league in Southeast Europe, featuring teams from Belarus, China, Croatia, Hungary, North Macedonia, Russia, Serbia, Slovakia, and Ukraine. Due to sponsorship reasons, the league is also known as the Gazprom League. The league exists alongside scaled-down national leagues of the participating nations and all of SEHA League teams join their respective country's own competitions in late spring after the SEHA League regular season and post-season have been completed. The league's headquarters are in Zagreb, Croatia, and the league's president is Mihajlo Mihajlovski Vardar's ex-chairman. 2011–12 was the first season of the competition, with Vardar from Skopje becoming the first champions.
Viktória Oguntoye is a Slovak handball goalkeeper of Hungarian and Nigerian descent, who currently plays for Debreceni VSC. She also won several cups for the Hungarian junior national team. She acquired Hungarian citizenship and planned to play for the Hungarian nation team, but Viktória eventually represents Slovakia women's national team Slovakia women's national handball team in Qualification for 2020 European Women's Handball Championship 2020 European Women's Handball Championship.
