The Greece national handball team is the national handball team of Greece and is controlled by the Hellenic Handball Federation.
Greece has a long tradition in handball. First of all, Greece made it to the handball 2005 World Cup and the 2004 Olympics where they beat Brazil, Korea and won against Egypt in a close game. In the Olympics they lost to eventual champions Croatia, and finished sixth in the tournament. In the World Cup they finished in the sixth position as well.

The Greece national basketball team represents Greece in international basketball. They are controlled by the Hellenic Basketball Federation, the governing body for basketball in Greece. Greece is currently ranked seventh in the FIBA World Rankings.
The Romanian women's national team represents Romania in senior women's international handball and is controlled by the Romanian Handball Federation, the governing body for handball in Romania. It competes in the three major international tournaments; the Olympic Games, the IHF World Championship and the EHF European Championship.
Gareth Brooks is a field hockey player from New Zealand, who earned his first cap for the national team, nicknamed The Black Sticks, in 2002. The midfielder was a member of the team that finished sixth at the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens, Greece.

Started in 1974, it is the oldest continental handball competition. The current champions are Egypt, who won the 2020 tournament in Tunisia.

He was voted 5 times in a row as the most valuable player in major international competitions, and is one of only four male handball players who received the IHF World Player of the Year award on two occasions. He was voted the best handball player in history in an online poll organised by the International Handball Federation.

Valérie Nicolas is a French handball goalkeeper and former player of the French national team. She became World Champion in 2003 with the French team, and was also voted Most Valuable Player and Best Goalkeeper. She was voted into the All-Star Team in the 2007 World Championship. Among her other triumphs are a silver medal from the World Championships, two bronze medals from the European Championships, victories at the Champions League, the EHF Cup, the Cup Winners' Cup, and both French and Danish national championships.

Greece has risen to prominence in a number of sporting areas in recent decades. Football in particular has seen a rapid transformation, with the Greek national football team winning the 2004 UEFA European Football Championship. Many Greek athletes have also achieved significant success and have won world and olympic titles in numerous sports during the years, such as basketball, wrestling, water polo, athletics, weightlifting, with many of them becoming international stars inside their sports. The successful organisation of the Athens 2004 Olympic and Paralympic Games led also to the further development of many sports and has led to the creation of many world class sport venues all over Greece and especially in Athens. Greek athletes have won a total 146 medals for Greece in 15 different Olympic sports at the Summer Olympic Games, including the Intercalated Games, an achievement which makes Greece one of the top nations globally, in the world's rankings of medals per capital.

The Hellenic Handball Federation (OXE) is the governing body of handball and beach handball in Hellenic Republic (Greece). Founded in 1979, OXE is affiliated to the International Handball Federation and European Handball Federation. OXE is also affiliated to the Hellenic Olympic Committee and the Mediterranean Handball Confederation. It is based in Athens.
