The Federal College of Education (Technical), Gombe was formerly known as National Technical Teachers College. Its a federal government higher education institution located in Gombe, Gombe State, Nigeria. The mandate of the college since its inception was producing technical, vocational and science teachers for primary and secondary schools in the Country. It is affiliated with Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University and the University of Maiduguri [1] for its degree programmes. The provost is Dr. Ali Adamu (Boderi). [2] [3] [4] [5]
The College Library was established in 1977 with a collection of 500 volume of books. It started on a temporary site in the former Gombe Crafts School, under the leadership of a Principal, and started moving to its permanent site in 1989 and finally relocated to the permanent site in 1996. [5] [6] Presently, the College library is made up of a main library and a virtual library. The library's primary goals are to enhance teaching and learning by developing and organizing the information resources that are available there. [7] The library currently has more than 40 thousand volumes of textbooks and 45 staff strength that manage the library. The current college librarian is Yusuf Shehu Aliyu. [7]

Sir Abubakar Tafawa Balewa was a Nigerian politician who served as the first and only prime minister of Nigeria upon independence. A conservative Anglophile, he favoured maintaining close ties with the British. During his first few years in office as prime minister, Nigeria was a constitutional monarchy with Elizabeth II reigning as Queen of Nigeria, until Nigeria became a republic in 1963. He was both a defender of Northern special interests and an advocate of Nigerian reform and unity.

Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University (ATBU) is a federal university of technology located in Bauchi, north eastern part of Nigeria. The university is named after the first and only Prime Minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Sir Abubakar Tafawa Balewa. The motto of the university is "Doctrina Mater Artium", which means "Education is the mother of the practical arts".

He was the founding vice chancellor of the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Bauchi and emeritus professor of the University of Lagos. He was a pioneer of engineering education in Nigeria and reputed as a great teacher. He became one of the first Nigerians to be awarded the degree of Doctor of Science (DSc) in 1976 - awarded by London University in engineering.
Federal College of Education (Special), Oyo also known as FCE OYO was established on 5 October 1977, as Federal Advanced Teacher's college (Special). The institution, according to a UNDP/UNESCO 1996 report (NIR/87/008) "... Has the best qualify Staff in Special Education not only in Nigeria but in West, North, East and Central Africa." The College is the only one of its kind in Nigeria and sub-Saharan Africa. It has the largest conglomeration of disabled students that could be found in any Higher Institution in Nigeria and the largest concentration of specialized facilities for teaching and training of teachers of the Handicapped in Nigeria. During its 40th anniversary celebration, the college gave special recognition award to former President Olusegun Obasanjo whose military administration brought about the upgrading of the Institution from the then Federal Advanced Teachers College to a College of Education with the mandate to award the National Certificate of Education (NCE) in 1977.

Federal College of Education, Zaria is a College of Science and Art based in Zaria, Nigeria. It was established by the then Northern Region Government of Nigeria in November 1962. It was initially named Northern Secondary Teachers College and later known as Advanced Teachers’ College Zaria, under the administrative and policy control of Ahmadu Bello University Zaria, until 1991.
