Fernand Mayembo (born 9 January 1996) is a Congolese professional footballer who plays as a defender for Israeli Premier League club Hapoel Haifa. He previously played in Ligue 2 with Grenoble, Chamois Niortais and Le Havre. [2]

Club career

Mayembo played junior football for Melun FC and CS Brétigny, [3] and spent time in the youth team of LB Châteauroux. [4]

Mayembo made his professional debut in Niort's 4–0 win against Auxerre on 29 October 2016, coming on as a substitute for Junior Sambia. [5]

On 26 July 2022, Mayembo signed a two-year contract with Ajaccio. [6]

On 31 July 2023 signed for Israeli Premier League club Hapoel Haifa. [7]

International career

Mayembo made his debut for the Congo national team in a 1–1 2018 FIFA World Cup qualification tie with Ghana on 1 September 2017. [8]

Chamois Niortais Football Club is a French association football club based in the commune of Niort, in the Deux-Sèvres department of western France. It was founded in 1925 by Charles Boinot, the son of the owner of a local chamois leather factory. The club's home stadium is the Stade René Gaillard in Niort, which has a capacity of 10,898 although in the last 20 years attendances have generally averaged below 5,000 per match due to the club's relatively small fan base. The team reached the last 32 of the Coupe de France, but was knocked out of the Coupe de la Ligue in the first round.

The 2012–13 season was the 87th season in the history of the French football club Chamois Niortais. After finishing as runners-up in the Championnat National in the 2011–12 campaign, the team competed in Ligue 2, the second tier of the French football pyramid. The promotion meant a return to professional status for the club, which was lost following relegation to the Championnat de France amateur three years earlier.
