Fernando Dayan Jorge Enriquez (born 3 December 1998) is a Cuban sprint canoeist. He took up canoeing in late 2015 and won the 2016 Pan American Championships with Serguey Torres in the C-2 1000 m event . They finished sixth at the 2016 Olympics. [1] [2] He also competed in the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games and won a gold medal in the Men's C-2 1000 metres event. [3]

In 2022, Jorge defected from Cuba while he was traveling in Mexico. [4]

Paracanoe and the women's C-1 200 m events that were exhibition events at the previous world championships in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, Canada, became official events at these championships.

Canoeing at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro was contested in two main disciplines: canoe slalom, from 7 to 11 August, and canoe sprint, from 15 to 20 August. The slalom competition was held at the Olympic Whitewater Stadium; whereas the sprint events were staged at Lagoa Rodrigo de Freitas in Copacabana. Canoeing at the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo was contested in two main disciplines: canoe slalom, to take place from 25 to 30 July 2021, and canoe sprint, from 2 to 7 August. The slalom competitions will be held at the Kasai Canoe Slalom Course; whereas the sprint events will be staged at Sea Forest Waterway.

Canoeing competitions at the 2015 Pan American Games surrounding Toronto are held in two main disciplines: the sprint, from 11 to 14 July and the slalom, from 18 to 19 July. The slalom competition will be held at the Minden Wild Water Preserve in Minden Hills. The sprint events were staged at the Welland Pan Am Flatwater Centre in Welland.

Cuba at the 2020 Summer Olympics Sporting event delegation

Cuba competed at the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo. Originally scheduled to take place from 24 July to 9 August 2020, the Games were postponed to 23 July to 8 August 2021, because of the COVID-19 pandemic. The Cuban delegation was their smallest since 1964, which coincidentally was also in Tokyo. It was the nation's twenty-first appearance at the Summer Olympics. Cuba improved on its 2016 result, by winning 7 gold and 15 total medals after 5 and 11 in Rio.

Thomas Green is an Australian sprint canoeist. He won a gold medal in the K2 1000 metres event at the 2020 Summer Olympics, competing alongside Jean van der Westhuyzen. He also competed in the K1 1000 metres in Tokyo, finishing in seventh place.
