Fernwood Pioneer Cemetery, also known as Everest Cemetery and the G.A.R Cemetery, [1] is an historic cemetery situated in an unincorporated area of Yamhill County near Newberg, Oregon, United States. The one-acre site was established in 1882; many of the first settlers to the Newberg area were buried at the cemetery from then until 1922. It is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. [2]

Springbrook is an unincorporated community within the city of Newberg, in Yamhill County, Oregon, United States. The community was originally named "Hoskins", after pioneer Cyrus E. Hoskins, who settled in the area. When a post office was established on June 30, 1893, the name was changed to Springbrook, since there was already a Hoskins, Oregon in Benton County. The post office closed in 1961.

Fort Yamhill was an American military fortification in the state of Oregon. Built in 1856 in the Oregon Territory, it remained an active post until 1866. The Army outpost was used to provide a presence next to the Grand Ronde Agency Coastal Reservation. Several officers stationed at the United States Army post prior to the American Civil War would later serve as generals in that war.

The state of Oregon acquired the 26 acres (11 ha) in 1931 after Yamhill and Washington counties requested a park from the state.

Minthorn Hall is an academic building on the campus of George Fox University in Newberg, Oregon, United States. Built in 1887, the hall was moved ten blocks to its current location in 1892. The three-story frame building is the oldest building on the campus of the school, and was the first building of the Quaker school. Future President Herbert Hoover may have briefly lived in the structure prior to its conversion to a school building. The hall was added to the National Register of Historic Places on June 13, 1997.

George Greenwood Bingham was an American judge and legal educator in the state of Oregon. A native of Wisconsin, his family immigrated to Oregon in his teens, though he returned to the Midwest for his legal education. Bingham served as the second dean at the Willamette University College of Law and was also a judge for Multnomah County after previously serving as a district attorney for Salem and the state. His former home in Salem, the Dr. Luke A. Port House, is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

Chehalem Creek is a tributary of the Willamette River in Yamhill County in the U.S. state of Oregon. It drains a watershed of 43,400 acres (176 km2), about 68 square miles. Its headwaters rise on the eastern slope of the Northern Oregon Coast Range above Larsen Reservoir 6 miles (10 km) southeast of Gaston and discharge into the Willamette near Newberg. The word "Chehalem" is a corruption of the Atfalati Indian word "'Chahelim'", a name given in 1877 to one of the bands of Atfalati.

Brookside Cemetery is an historic 3.41-acre cemetery in Dayton, Oregon, United States. Joel Palmer set aside land for the cemetery in the 1850s; he deeded the site to the Dayton School District in 1874. 479 people are known to have been buried there between July 1864 and June 1987; there are presently no vacant plots. The cemetery is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
