Fiction is an extended play by the Canadian rock band Suuns, released October 30, 2020 via Secret City Records and Joyful Noise Recordings. [1]
Fiction was announced September 2020 with a press release promising "new sounds and sonic directions" on an EP that "is as much a project of curation as it is one of creation: sifting, re-imagining, and re-framing, sometimes completely disassembling and then building from the ground up." The announcement came with the release of lead single "Pray", a leftover song cut from the band's 2016 album Hold/Still . [1] Two more singles followed in the next month: "Breathe", featuring prior collaborators Jerusalem in My Heart, [2] and title track "Fiction", [3] came out October 7 and October 22 respectively.
The album has been described as avant rock [4] and psychedelic music. [5]

For Exclaim!, Daniel Sylvester wrote of the EP, "Although Fiction feels and sounds like more of an experiment than it does an important part of their discography, there's no way to deny that these six tracks demonstrate Suuns' willingness to mess with the way they approach their craft, giving the listener a beacon of hope for future works." [7] Pitchfork's Will Ainsley said that despite it being brief, the EP "never feels insubstantial because the sound of the whole thing is so spectacular", and called the project "something more instinctive and assured" than the band's past output, but also that "it's tempting to want more, more clearly-defined songs, more beats, more aggression, more of that sublime bweebeebewboo guitar line; there are only two straight-up-and-down songs here while the rest feel like sketches." [4] New Noise writer Ryan Beitler said the band "are breaking barriers and reaching beyond the underground in the process." [6] Laura Stewart of 25YL called the project "joyfully chilling", and called the opening track "black ambience with shades of Bowie's Black Star [ sic ]". [5]

Fuck the Facts is a Canadian Juno-nominated, grindcore band from Ottawa, Ontario, Canada, formed in 1998. They began as the solo recording project of musician Topon Das. Their earliest recording was in January 1997; they began using the name Fuck the Facts in 1998. After many early recordings, including split tapes with groups from around the world, Fuck the Facts began developing a name in the underground with fans of grind. In 2001, the first full-length CD-R, Discoing the Dead, was recorded. The same year, Das would assemble a full band to continue with the project. The band has since coined the terms "bastardized grindcore" and "mullet-core" to describe their sound.

Suuns is a Canadian rock band from Montreal. It was formed in mid-2007 when vocalist and guitarist Ben Shemie and guitarist and bassist Joe Yarmush got together to make some beats which quickly evolved into a few songs. The duo was soon joined by drummer Liam O'Neill and bassist and keyboardist Max Henry to complete the original line-up. The band signed to Secretly Canadian in 2010. Since 2018, Suuns saw the departure of Henry as an official member to pursue a scholastic path, and in 2020 they officially signed with Joyful Noise Recordings with their 2020 output of Fiction EP followed by their LP The Witness.

Forever in Your Heart is the fifth studio album by Canadian noise pop duo Black Dresses. Released on February 14, 2021 by Blacksquares Records, it was their first album since the band broke up in May 2020 just weeks after the release of their previous album Peaceful as Hell in April 2020. The duo cited harassment directed towards band member Devi McCallion by fans as the reason for the disbandment. The album was announced via a tweet in which the duo clarified that they were still disbanded, saying "We’re no longer a band unfortunately. Regardless, we’ve decided to keep putting out music." The album consists of songs recorded in 2020, but it was not revealed whether it was recorded before or after the breakup of the band.
Cedric Noel is a multi-ethnic, multinational, multi-instrumental singer-songwriter residing in Canada. His sound has been characterized as ranging from "emotionally driven indie-rock, ambient synth music, and romantic electro-pop" to "soul" or "gentle folk" but is ultimately intended as a critique of genre limitations that aspires to "contribute to the reimagination of what is understood as ‘Black music’ and help remove the boundaries that term currently encompasses,” as Noel remarked in an interview.
SZNZ: Spring is the seventh EP by American rock band Weezer, and the first of four EPs in their SZNZ project. It was released digitally on March 20, 2022, coinciding with the spring equinox.
