The men's field hockey tournament at the 2007 Pan American Games was held between 16 and 25 July 2007 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The tournament doubled as the qualification to the 2008 Summer Olympics to be held in Beijing, China.

Contents

Canada won the tournament for the fourth time after defeating Argentina 5–4 in a penalty shoot-out after the final finished a 2–2 draw. [1] Chile won the bronze medal after defeating Trinidad and Tobago 5–3 in the third place playoff. [2]

The 2007 Pan American Games, officially known as the XV Pan American Games, were a major continental multi-sport event that took place in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, from July 13 to 29, 2007. A total of 5,633 athletes from 42 National Olympic Committees (NOCs) competed in 332 events in 34 sports and in 47 disciplines. During the Games, 95 new Pan American records were set; 2,196 medals were awarded; 1,262 doping control tests were performed and about 15,000 volunteers participated in the organization of the event, which was an Olympic qualification for 13 International Federations (IFs).

The Argentina national field hockey team, represents Argentina in field hockey and is governed by the Argentine Hockey Confederation (CAH). The current coach is Mariano Ronconi, who was appointed after Germán Orozco was let go in 2020. The team is currently sixth in the FIH World Rankings.

Field hockey at the 2007 Pan American Games in Rio de Janeiro was held over a ten-day period beginning on July 15 and culminating with the medal finals on July 24 and July 25. All games were played at the Círculo Militar Deodoro. Each team was allowed to enter a maximum of sixteen athletes. The winner of each tournament qualified to compete at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing, China.

The women's field hockey tournament at the 2011 Pan American Games was held between 19–28 October 2011 in Guadalajara, Mexico. The tournament doubled as the qualification to the 2012 Summer Olympics to be held in London, Great Britain.
