The women's field hockey tournament at the 2013 East Asian Games was the third and final edition of the field hockey tournament at the East Asian Games. The tournament took place over a six-day period, beginning on 6 October, culminating with medal finals on 12 October. All games were played at the Tianjin Olympic Center in Tianjin, China. [1]

Contents

Japan won the tournament, defeating China 4–3 in the final. [2] Chinese Taipei finished in third place after defeating Hong Kong 4–2 in the third place playoff. [3]

Competition format

The four nations competed in a single round-robin format to determine group standings. At the conclusion of the group matches, the top two teams competed in the Gold Medal Match, while the teams placed third and fourth played off for Bronze.

Hong Kong competed at the 2018 Asian Games in Jakarta and Palembang, Indonesia, from 18 August to 2 September 2018. Hong Kong made its debut at the Asian Games in 1954 Manila, and the best achievement for the territory was in 2010 Asian Games held in neighboring Guangzhou, finishing with 8 gold, 15 silver and 17 bronze medals totaling 40 medals. Ten national teams will compete in the women's field hockey tournament at the 2018 Asian Games in Indonesia. A maximum of eighteen players were officially enrolled in each squad.
