U.S. Figure Skating is the national governing body for the sport of figure skating in the United States. It is recognized as such by the United States Olympic & Paralympic Committee (USOPC) under the Ted Stevens Olympic and Amateur Sports Act and is the United States member of the International Skating Union (ISU). Although the official name of the organization is "the United States Figure Skating Association," it is now known as and conducts business under the name "U.S. Figure Skating." Founded in 1921, U.S. Figure Skating regulates and governs the sport and defines and maintains the standard of skating proficiency. It specifies the rules for testing, competitions, and all other figure skating related activities. U.S. Figure Skating promotes interest and participation in the sport by assisting member clubs, skaters, and athletes, appointing officials, organizing competitions, exhibitions, and other figure skating pursuits, and offering a wide variety of programs.
Maurizio Margaglio is an Italian ice dancing coach and former competitor. With partner Barbara Fusar-Poli, he is the 2001 World champion, 2001 European champion, and 2002 Olympic bronze medalist. They won nine Italian titles and competed at three Olympics.
Emily Samuelson is an American former competitive ice dancer. With former partner Evan Bates, she is the 2009 Four Continents bronze medalist, the 2008 World Junior champion, and the 2009 U.S. national silver medalist. The duo competed at the 2010 Winter Olympics. Samuelson later skated with Todd Gilles.

With his wife and skating partner, Madison Chock, he is the 2022 Olympic gold medalist in the team event, the 2023 and 2024 World champion, two times Grand Prix Final champion, a three-time Four Continents champion, a twenty-time ISU Grand Prix medalist, ten-time ISU Challenger Series medalist, and a five-time U.S. national champion. The two represented the United States at the 2014, 2018 and 2022 Winter Olympics.
Madison Hubbell is an American former ice dancer. She competed with Zachary Donohue from 2011 to 2022. With him, she is a two-time 2022 Winter Olympics medalist, a four-time World medalist, the 2018 Grand Prix Final champion, the 2014 Four Continents champion, and a three-time U.S. national champion.
The Swiss Figure Skating Championships are a figure skating competition held annually to crown the national champions of Switzerland. Medals may be awarded in the disciplines of men's singles, ladies' singles, pair skating, and ice dancing, although not every discipline has been held in every year due to a lack of participants.
The Egna Spring Trophy is an annual international figure skating competition which is generally held every spring in Val Gardena in Italy. Medals may be awarded in men's singles, women's singles, and pair skating. Since its inception in 1990, the event has included a junior-level competition. Novice categories were added in 2006 and senior categories in 2011. An ice dance competition, the Egna Dance Trophy, debuted in February 2018.
The 2008 World Junior Figure Skating Championships were held from February 25 through March 2 in Sofia, Bulgaria. Commonly called "World Juniors" and "Junior Worlds", they are an annual figure skating competition in which elite figure skaters compete for the title of World Junior Champion. The event is open to figure skaters from ISU member nations who have reached the age of 13 by July 1 of the previous year, but have not yet turned 19. The upper age limit for men competing in pairs and dance is 21. Skaters compete in four disciplines: men's singles, ladies' singles, pair skating, and ice dancing.
The Eastern Sectional Figure Skating Championships is an annual figure skating competition sanctioned by U.S. Figure Skating, which has been held since 1938. It is one of three sectional competitions, alongside the Midwestern Sectional Figure Skating Championships and Pacific Coast Sectional Figure Skating Championships.

The two competitions were the culmination of two international series, the 2011–12 ISU Grand Prix of Figure Skating for senior-level skaters and the 2011–12 ISU Junior Grand Prix for juniors.
