Santa Tecla Fútbol Club is a Salvadoran multi-sport club based in Santa Tecla since being formed in 2007. Although they compete in a number of different sports, Santa Tecla is mostly known for its professional association football team. The club has competed in Primera División de Fútbol de El Salvador, the nation's top tier, since being promoted there for Apertura 2012. Santa Tecla was founded in 2007, and currently plays its home games at the 10,000 capacity soccer-specific Estadio Las Delicias.

The 2008–09 CONCACAF Champions League group stage took place between 16 September 2008 and 26 November 2008. It consisted of 16 clubs arranged into four groups of four whith the top-two in each group advancing to the knockout stage.

The 2009–10 CONCACAF Champions League preliminary round was the first round of the 2009–10 CONCACAF Champions League. Sixteen teams were entered in this round, and were drawn into eight matchups that were contested in a two-legged tie. The first leg of each of the preliminary round matchups was played July 28–30, 2009, and the second leg was played August 4–6. This tournament's preliminary round was scheduled to begin one month earlier than the previous season in order to alleviate schedule congestion for participants due to fourth round of CONCACAF qualification for the 2010 FIFA World Cup. The matchup draw for the preliminary and group stages was conducted on June 11. The match schedule was announced five days later on June 16.

The 2011–12 season will be El Salvador's Segunda División de Fútbol Salvadoreño The season will be split into two championships Apertura 2011 and Clausura 2012. The champions of the Apertura and Clausura play the direct promotion playoff every year. The winner of that series ascends to Primera División de Fútbol de El Salvador.

The football tournament at the 1935 Central American and Caribbean Games was held in San Salvador from 24 March to 3 April. The tournament was the second association football tournament held at the Central American and Caribbean Games, with the first tournament being held in 1930 in Havana. All matches were held at the Estadio Nacional Flor Blanca.

The Clausura 2013 season is the 30th edition of Primera División de Fútbol de El Salvador since its establishment of an Apertura and Clausura format. Isidro Metapán were the defending champions. The league consisted of 10 teams, each playing a home and away game against the other clubs for a total of 18 games, respectively. The top four teams at the end of the regular season took part in the playoffs.

The 2022 CONCACAF W Championship qualification competition, also known as the CONCACAF W Qualifiers, is a women's football tournament that was contested by the senior women's national teams of the member associations of CONCACAF to decide the participating teams of the 2022 CONCACAF W Championship. The qualifying matches took place in February and April 2022. A total of six teams in the qualifying competition advanced to the final tournament, joining Canada and the United States, who received byes as the top ranked teams. The 2022 CONCACAF W Championship will serve as the CONCACAF qualifiers to the 2023 FIFA Women's World Cup in Australia and New Zealand, as well as for the football tournament at the 2024 Summer Olympics in France.

The 2023 CONCACAF Women's U-20 Championship qualification competition, was a women's football tournament that was contested by the under-20 women's national teams of the member associations of CONCACAF to decide the participating teams of the 2023 CONCACAF Women's U-20 Championship. The qualifying matches were scheduled to take place between 14 and 23 April 2023. A total of six teams in the qualifying competition advanced to the final tournament, joining United States and Mexico, who received byes as the top-ranked teams. The 2023 CONCACAF Women's U-20 Championship will serve as the CONCACAF qualifiers for the 2024 FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup.

The men's football tournament at the 2023 Central American and Caribbean Games was held in Santa Tecla from 28 June to 6 July.
