Foothills Mall was an indoor regional shopping mall located in Casas Adobes, Arizona, United States, with a Tucson postal address. [2] Foothills Mall had capacity for over 90 stores and outlets, along with 8 restaurants and an AMC Theatres Foothills 15. As of 2023, the mall has been demolished, with plans to convert the existing mall into a mixed-use project. [3]

History

Opened in 1982 as a small upscale mall, Foothills Mall originally including Goldwater's (102, 939 ft.2 [4] ) and Levy's [5] (103, 429 ft.2 [6] ) as its anchors, [7] as well as the Plitt Foothills 4 Cinemas. [8] In 1985, Levy's became Sanger-Harris and in 1987, Foley's. [9] In 1988, Foothills 4 Cinemas became Cineplex Odeon Foothills 7 Cinemas while Goldwater's became Dillard's in 1989. Both Dillard's and Foley's closed in 1994, as they were overlapped at nearby Tucson Mall. [7]

By the mid-1990s, Foothills Mall was finding little support for its upscale niche and was largely vacant. The mall was re-tenanted as an ancillary/outlet oriented mall, with Barnes & Noble and Saks Fifth Avenue's Off Fifth outlet opening in the former Dillard's space. [10] Meanwhile, a Ross Dress for Less, Linens ‘N’ Things, and Nike Factory Store moved into the former Foley's, [11] and the Cineplex Odeon Foothills 7 Cinemas was given 8 new screens. [10] A standalone Walmart Supercenter was also added in the mid-1990s, as well as new stores on the perimeter of the property. The Cineplex Odeon Foothills 15 Cinemas became Loews Cineplex Foothills 15 Theatres in 1998, and AMC Loews Foothills 15 Theatres in 2005. In 1999 Bourn Companies Sold Foothills Mall [12]

After nearly two decades of experiencing success with the outlet mall concept, Foothills Mall faced difficulty in 2016 retaining tenants after the opening of the Tucson Premium Outlets in nearby Marana. Within six months of the outdoor mall opening, major tenants Saks Fifth Avenue's Off Fifth outlet, Old Navy's Outlet, Hanes and Nike Factory Store closed or announced plans to close their existing Foothills Mall locations in favor of a store at Tucson Premium Outlets. [13] Bourn Companies Purchased Foothills Mall again in 2016 [12] In 2018, Foothills Mall received a zoning change that permitted mixed use developments [14]

As of 2023, the mall is undergoing partial demolition, with plans to convert the mall into a mixed-use project, Uptown. [3] Tenants including Bath and Body Works, Barnes & Noble, and a 15-screen AMC Loews Theaters / IMAX Theater, alongside Applebee's, Outback Steakhouse, and other businesses on the perimeter of the mall will remain open.

Bourn Companies is calling the redeveloped land "Uptown" and revealed Renderings on May 15, 2023 [15]

Entertainment Centrum is a type of entertainment complex in Canada developed by PenEquity. There are four Entertainment Centrums: the Oakville, Mississauga, Whitby, and Ottawa (Kanata) Entertainment Centrums. These plazas have movie theatres, fitness centres, and restaurants, among other attractions. Patrons park in a parking lot outside the Centrum, and walk into an outdoor open area. All four Centrums are anchored by Cineplex Cinemas or Landmark Cinemas multiplex cinema.

Levy's, also known as Levy Brothers, was a department store based in Tucson, Arizona, United States. It was founded in 1950 by brothers Jacob and Ben Levy, who acquired the former Myers & Bloom department store in downtown Tucson.

Lakeline Mall is a super-regional shopping mall located in north Austin, Texas, at the intersection of RR 620 and US 183. Although the mall has a Cedar Park postal code, it is physically within the City of Austin. It has 1,099,420 square feet (102,139 m2) of gross leasable area. Construction was initially slated to begin in the 1980s but was stalled due to the savings and loan crisis and later stalled due to the discovery of two endangered species on the proposed site. Lakeline Mall opened on October 11, 1995. The anchor stores are Macy's, JCPenney, AMC Theatres, and two Dillard's stores. A sixth anchor, Sears, closed in 2018.

St. Charles Towne Center is a two-level, enclosed shopping mall in the planned community of St. Charles in Waldorf, Maryland. Built in the late 1980s, it covers an area of 980,418 sq ft (91,083.8 m2), and is currently the only regional mall in Southern Maryland. In addition to Waldorf and St. Charles, the mall also serves the southern suburbs of Washington, D.C., and has a trade area population of 338,502. Anchor stores are Dick's Sporting Goods, J. C. Penney, Kohl's, Macy's, and Macy's Home Store.
