Forth Wanderers Football Club are a Scottish football club based in the village of Forth, South Lanarkshire. Formed in 1904 they compete in the West of Scotland League Second Division and play in red strips with a white trim with a second strip of all black.

History

Since 1934 they have played at Kingshill Park in the village, [1] however they have had to share with Carluke Rovers for a spell and play on a public park in Carnwath when this ground proved unusable. The team's first games were played at Pleasure Park before the Wanderers moved to Hie Dyke in 1929. It was 5 years later until they moved to what is their current home, Kingshill Park in 1934.

Forth have supplied two Scottish international goalkeepers in George Wood and Rab Douglas. [2] Rangers legend Willie Waddell came from the village and starred for the team in his pre-Ibrox days. [3]

Wanderers reached the semi-finals of the Scottish Junior Cup in 1981 and their home quarter-final tie versus East Kilbride Thistle attracted a record crowd of 2,324. [4]

The team is managed by Gerry Ward.

Blantyre Celtic Football Club were a Scottish football club that played under the auspices of the Scottish Junior Football Association. Formed in 1914 as Blantyre United, they changed their name to Blantyre Celtic two years later. Their home ground was near Springwell in Blantyre and they had as local rivals Blantyre Victoria, known locally as the Vics. In many ways they were the poorer cousin, as they existed in a poorer area of the village and lacked the financial support that the Vics gained from having a large social club attached to their home ground.

The 1873–74 Scottish Cup – officially the Scottish Football Association Challenge Cup – was the first season of Scotland's most prestigious football knockout competition. A total of 16 teams from the west of Scotland entered the competition, but only 14 played a match after two teams withdrew. The competition began with a match between Renton and Kilmarnock on 18 October 1873 and concluded with the final on 21 March 1874. After 16 matches and 38 goals, the inaugural cup was won by Queen's Park who defeated fellow Glasgow club Clydesdale 2–0 in the final.
