Robert Hutcherson was an American jazz vibraphone and marimba player. "Little B's Poem", from the 1966 Blue Note album Components, is one of his best-known compositions. Hutcherson influenced younger vibraphonists including Steve Nelson, Joe Locke, and Stefon Harris.

It was originally issued in 1978 as a double LP featuring tracks recorded in three different sessions: July 1967, September 1969 and October 1969. Alongside the US-issue there was a single album release in Japan the same year titled Lee Morgan All-Star Sextet, which only comprised the session of 1967 (ST-83023/GXF-3023). The first and remastered CD release, that came out in 1995 as part of the Blue Note "Connoisseur Series", included only this session. The remaining tracks of the original double album have been finally issued on CD in 1998 in Japan, then in 2003 in the US, as bonus tracks on Sonic Boom.
