Francisco Couana (born 10 November 1996) is a Mozambican cricketer who plays for the Mozambique national cricket team. [1] He was named in Mozambique's Twenty20 International (T20I) squad for the 2019 T20 Kwacha Cup. [2] These were the first T20I matches to be played by Mozambique since the International Cricket Council (ICC) granted T20I status to all matches played between Associate Members after 1 January 2019. [3] Couana made his T20I debut on 6 November 2019, in the first match of the tournament against hosts Malawi. [4]
Couana was part of Mozambique's T20I squad for their matches in Group B of the 2021 ICC Men's T20 World Cup Africa Qualifier tournament in Rwanda. [5] In Mozambique's second match of the qualifier, against Cameroon, he scored 104 runs and took five wickets. [6] He became the first player for Mozambique to score a century in T20Is, [7] and to take a five-wicket haul in T20Is. [8] He also became the first player to score a century and take five wickets in a single T20I match. [9] [10] [11]
The Mozambique national cricket team is the men's team that represents Mozambique in international cricket. The team is administered by the Mozambican Cricket Association which became an affiliate member of International Cricket Council (ICC) in 2003, and an associate member in 2017. Mozambique is also a member of the Africa Cricket Association. The Mozambique national cricket team has competed in the World Cricket League Africa Region, Cricket World Cup and the ICC Africa Twenty20 Championship.
The 2021 ICC Men's T20 World Cup was the seventh ICC Men's T20 World Cup tournament, held from 17 October to 14 November 2021. The tournament was formally hosted by India, with matches played in Oman and the United Arab Emirates.

In October 2021, he was named in Tanzania's Twenty20 International (T20I) squad for their matches in Group B of the 2021 ICC Men's T20 World Cup Africa Qualifier tournament in Rwanda. He made his T20I debut on 2 November 2021 against Mozambique. Later the same month, he was named in Tanzania's squad for the Regional Final of the 2021 ICC Men's T20 World Cup Africa Qualifier tournament, also in Rwanda.

He made his T20I debut on 2 November 2021 against Mozambique. The 2022 ACA Africa T20 Cup was a cricket tournament played in Benoni, Gauteng, South Africa. The finals tournament were originally scheduled to be held in September 2019, but were moved to March 2020, with the original host city being Nairobi, Kenya. On 9 March 2020, the tournament was postponed again due to the COVID-19 pandemic, in line with the Kenyan government's 30-day ban on international gatherings. The tournament was eventually rescheduled for September 2022.
The 2019 T20 Kwacha Cup was a men's Twenty20 International/women's Twenty20 International (T20I) cricket event between the men's and women's national cricket teams of Malawi and Mozambique. Both the men's and women's series consisted of seven T20I matches played between 6 and 10 November 2019 in Blantyre and Lilongwe, Malawi. The venue for the first four men's T20I matches was the Lilongwe Golf Club in Lilongwe, and these were followed by two matches at Indian Sports Club and one match at Saint Andrews International High School in Blantyre. All of the women's T20I matches were played at Saint Andrews International High School. Malawi won the men's series 5–1, and the women's series 4–3.

It took place in November 2021 in Antigua, with the top two teams progressing to one of two global qualifiers. In April 2018, the International Cricket Council (ICC) granted full international status to Twenty20 men's matches played between member sides from 1 January 2019 onwards. Therefore, all the matches in the Regional Qualifiers were played as Twenty20 Internationals (T20Is).
