Frankie J. Galasso is an American musician and actor. He is best known as a member of the boy band Dream Street.

Early life

Galasso was born in New York City to Lisa (née Cicero) and Francesco Galasso and attended Salesian High School in New Rochelle, New York, and Five Towns College in Dix Hills. [4]

Career

Galasso's career began in 1995 when he starred as Mickey Canetti in Hudson Street. In 1997, he played the role of Andrew Kempster in the movie Jungle 2 Jungle as well as being cast in the stage musical, Oliver! at North Shore Music Theatre in Beverly, Massachusetts. [5] [6] [7] He provided the singing voice of Christopher Robin in Pooh's Grand Adventure: The Search for Christopher Robin (1997), A Winnie the Pooh Thanksgiving (1998), and Winnie the Pooh: A Valentine for You (1999). In 2003, Galasso portrayed Tommy in the movie A Tale of Two Pizzas.

In 2008 Galasso began recording new songs, releasing his single "Give Me a Reason" on March 19, 2009. [8]

In 2012, Galasso was an ensemble cast member of the First National Touring of Jersey Boys . [9] [10] He portrayed 14 different characters during his run. [11] [12] [13]

In January 2014, Galasso and Alissa Salvatore recorded a cover of "Say Something". [14] [15] [16]

In September 2016, Galasso performed the National Anthem at Broncos Stadium before a Bengals vs. Broncos game and at Coors Field before a Rockies vs. Cardinals game. [17] [18] [19] [20]

On June 2, 2020, Galasso's former Dream Street bandmate Chris Trousdale died at a hospital in Burbank, California, at the age of 34 due to complications from an unknown illness during the COVID-19 pandemic in California. [21] [22] It was later revealed that COVID-19 was the main complication of Trousdale's death. [23] On June 11, 2020, on what would be Trousdale's 35th birthday, Galasso and his former Dream Street bandmates Greg Raposo, Jesse McCartney, and Matt Ballinger reunited for a virtual performance of "It Happens Every Time" to pay tribute to Trousdale. [24] This would be the first public appearance of Dream Street together as a group since the disbandment over the lawsuits prior.

In April 2023, Galasso and members Matt Ballinger & Greg Raposo were interviewed on the podcast, Frosted Tips with Lance Bass hosted by Lance Bass. [25] [26] [27] [28]

On May 12, 2023, Greg Raposo uploaded a short clip to Instagram of him, Matt Ballinger, & Galasso working on what appears to be new Dream Street music and material. [29]

On June 11, 2023, Galasso and Dream Street members Greg Raposo & Matt Ballinger released the single entitled, "Smile" on what would have been former band member, Chris Trousdale's 38th birthday in honor of him following his death in 2020. [lower-alpha 1] [30] [31]

The official music video for "Smile" was uploaded to Greg Raposo's YouTube channel the following day. [32]

In October 2023, Galasso performed at a wedding in Massapequa, New York under Hank Lane Music. [33]

Personal life

Galasso has been in a relationship with Broadway actress Kara Tremel since September 10, 2012. [34] [35] [36]

<i>Jersey Boys</i> Jukebox musical premiered in 2004

Jersey Boys is a jukebox musical with a book by Marshall Brickman and Rick Elice. It is presented in a documentary-style format that dramatizes the formation, success and breakup of the 1960s rock 'n' roll group The Four Seasons. The musical is structured as four "seasons", each narrated by a different member of the band who gives his own perspective on its history and music. Songs include "Big Girls Don't Cry", "Sherry", "December, 1963 ", "My Eyes Adored You", "Stay", "Can't Take My Eyes Off You", "Walk Like A Man", "Who Loves You", "Working My Way Back to You" and "Rag Doll".

The Broadway Kids was a concert group based in New York from 1994 to 2004. The group consisted of a rotating company of children, aged 8 to 16, who have performed in at least one Broadway, Off-Broadway or major national touring production. They performed concerts singing showtunes from various musicals, appearing at special events such as Broadway on Broadway, and have recorded three Broadway-centric CDs, one Christmas CD, one Americana CD, one movie-centric CD and one pop-centric CD. The Broadway Kids have also appeared in the Off-Broadway show The Broadway Kids Sing Broadway, which has been produced in various theatres in New York and elsewhere. After releasing "Hey, Mr. DJ!" in 2002, The Broadway Kids quit recording CDs. They continued to tour throughout 2004 and disbanded shortly after.

<i>The Biggest Fan</i> Direct-to-DVD film issued 2005

The Biggest Fan is a film featuring the band Dream Street. The main characters are Chris Trousdale and his "Biggest Fan" Debbie Worden. It was made in 2002 just before the band split because of the problems between their parents and producers; however, the film's release was postponed pending the outcome of a lawsuit between some of the band members and the band's management. Chris Trousdale is prominently featured in the film, while the other Dream Street members have cameo roles in the beginning and the end of the film. Trousdale promoted the film at his concerts after filming was complete. The Biggest Fan was released on DVD on May 18, 2005 (USA/Canada) and in 2007 (Australia). The soundtrack was released by Edel.
