The Franklin Ward is the southernmost ward on the Auckland Council. The Franklin ward has one local board, also called Franklin; the Franklin Local Board has three subdivisions - Wairoa, Pukekohe and Waiuku. [1] Franklin is currently represented by Bill Cashmore.

The council began operating on 1 November 2010, combining the functions of the previous regional council and the region's seven city and district councils into one "super council" or "super city".

2010 Auckland local elections

The 2010 Auckland local elections took place from 17 September until 9 October and were conducted by postal vote. The elections were the first since the merger of the seven councils and elected the new Auckland Council, composed of the mayor and 20 councillors, and 149 members of 21 local boards. It also elected 21 district health board members and 41 licensing trust members.

Devonport-Takapuna Local Board Local board of Auckland Council in New Zealand

The Devonport-Takapuna Local Board covers from Castor Bay, and Sunnynook south to the end of the Devonport Peninsula; it is separated from the Kaipātiki board area by the Northern Motorway. This local board sits in the Auckland Council office buildings on The Strand in Takapuna. These were the North Shore City Council offices until the North Shore City Council was merged into Auckland Council in 2010. It is part of the North Shore Ward of Auckland Council, which also includes the Kaipātiki Local Board.

Shore Action is a political ticket which contests the boards and council seats in the North Shore Ward of the Auckland Council. They have a strong focus on retention of local assets and investment in the natural environment, along with a focus on local participation in local body politics.

Howick Ward is an Auckland Council ward which elects two councillors and covers the Howick Local Board. Sharon Stewart and Paul Young are the current councillors.

The 2019 Auckland mayoral election was held on 12 October 2019 to determine who would serve as Mayor of Auckland for the next three years. Nominations opened on 19 July 2019 and closed on 16 August 2019. Incumbent Mayor Phil Goff won the election with 48% of the vote to secure a second term.
