French the Kid is a British rapper and singer. Born in Harold Hill, his family moved to Australia and France while he was a child. He moved back to the UK in his teens, beginning to release freestyles on Instagram in 2018.

Early life

French the Kid was raised in Romford. [2] He is of Irish descent, In 2009 his family moved to Australia before moving to south west France when he was nine. There, he would be exposed to numerous French hip-hop artists, including PNL and Jul. [1]

After passing his exams, he moved back to England with his father. [1]

Career

Beginning in 2018, French the Kid released freestyles through Instagram. [3] He released his debut single, "Bella Latina", in 2019; the song switches between English and French. [1]

In 2020, he released "Broken Lives & Stolen Peds", [4] also appearing on the Mad About Bars and Daily Duppy freestyle series, [5] [6] with the latter having 17 million views as of April 2022. [7] He would also collaborate with Kenny Allstar on "Coco". [8]

In 2021, French the Kid released "Essex Boys" with Slimz and a remix of "Playing Games" with Jaykae. [9] [10] Later in the year, he released "Can't Feel My Face" and "Thrill", [11] [12] which peaked at number 98 and 90 on the UK Singles Chart, respectively. [13]

In 2022, he released "Remedy", [14] which peaked at number 81. In April, he released his debut mixtape, Never Been Ordinary. [15] He also collaborated with Clean Bandit on a single titled “Sad Girls” in September 2022.

In 2023, he released "Single Player", the lead single from his second mixtape, No Signal. [16]

It features guest appearances from Still Brickin', Rack5, Dodgy, Horrid1, AJ Tracey, and Maverick Sabre, and American rappers B-Lovee, Moneybagg Yo, and Hotboii. The extended edition adds a further guest appearance from Arrdee. The mixtape debuted atop the UK Albums Chart, becoming Digga D's first number-one album.

Strength to Strength is a collaborative mixtape between British rappers Headie One and K-Trap. It was released on September 22, 2023, through Headie One's record label One Records and K-Trap's record label Thousand8. The mixtape features two guest appearances from Clavish and M1OnTheBeat. The production was handled by Carns Hill, M1OnTheBeat, Tyrell 169, and several other well-respected producers.
