Gabriella Leigh Bechtel (born July 28, 1997), known professionally as Gabbriette, is an American model and musician. She first gained prominence as the lead vocalist and songwriter of the punk rock band Nasty Cherry before coming to wider recognition as a model. [1] [2] [3] [4] [5] [6]

Known for her goth aesthetic, Gabbriette has been called by several media outlets as an "it girl", [7] [8] and is at the forefront of what has been dubbed the "Succubus Chic" trend. [9] [10] [11] [12]

Early life

Gabbriette was born Gabriella Leigh Bechtel [13] on July 28, 1997, in Orange County, California [14] to a Mexican mother and a Swiss-German father. [5] [15] Growing up, she recalled: "The majority of students at my high school were beautiful, strictly white blonde girls, and my sister and I were Hispanic. I was called some pretty awful things. But then I just learned to laugh at it." [5]

She credits her love for food and skills in the kitchen to her multicultural upbringing stating: "There were all these different cultures colliding in our house. They were really experimental and would always have copies of BonAppétit laid out. My mom would always be putting a twist on a recipe and my dad would be grilling something or making sauerkraut. Family meals were a big part of our life, we’d sit down together after school without our phones and talk about our day, and the cooking process was always a big part of that." [5]

Career

After graduating from high school, Gabbriette moved to Los Angeles to pursue a career in ballet. She then landed a job as a dancer for Blood Orange's music videos on MTV, [5] catching the attention of model scouts and eventually signed with a modeling agency. She has since starred in campaigns for Marc Jacobs, [16] Nike, [17] Savage X Fenty, [18] Bottega Veneta, [15] Agent Provocateur, [19] Juicy Couture, [7] and Betsy Johnson [20] to name a few. [21] [22] She has also walked the runway for Vera Wang, [23] Diesel, [20] and Dsquared2 [5] among others, and has featured in several editorials and magazine covers including for CR Fashion Book , [24] Dazed, [25] L'Officiel, [15] and Vogue. [26]

Gabbriette, who has previously photographed digital stories for V Magazine and Vogue.com, [27] had a photography exhibition in 2016 to launch her limited capsule collection with Junk Food Clothing. [28]

In 2018, Gabbriette was sought out by English pop singer Charli XCX, with whom she has worked before on a music video, to be the lead vocalist of punk rock band Nasty Cherry. [4] Since then, she has released three EPs with the band, and has also appeared in the Netflix documentary I'm with the Band: Nasty Cherry (2019). [14] [29]

Gabbriette is also recognized for her recipes and food content. [30] [8] She first started posting videos of herself cooking during the COVID-19 pandemic and has since curated menus for fashion brands. [31] [32] [33] [34] As of 2022, she is currently working on a cookbook. [5] [15]

In 2024, Gabbriette reunited with Charli XCX to feature in the video for her song "360". [35] [36] Gabbriette is also mentioned in the first verse of the song lyrics: "Call me Gabbriette, you’re so inspired". [37] The same year, she collaborated with MAC Cosmetics for limited-edition lip kit. [38]

Artistry

Influenced by female-led and created bands, Gabbriette grew up listening to Dido and Norah Jones, and has looked up to Suzi Quatro, and the Runaways, in particular, Joan Jett. She has also expressed admiration for Poison Ivy and Gwen Stefani. [39] [15]

Personal life

In 2020, Gabbriette was in a relationship with model Levi Dylan, son of Jakob Dylan and grandson to Bob Dylan. [40] [41]

Since September 2023, Gabbriette has been publicly dating English musician Matty Healy, the lead vocalist of the band the 1975. [42] [32] They announced their engagement in June 2024. [43]

In 2007, XCX began recording her debut album on a loan granted by her parents. Titled 14, after her age at the time, it received only a restricted public release. Two singles, "!Franchesckaar!" and double A-side "Emelline" / "Art Bitch", were released in late 2008 under Orgy Music. In June 2012, Charli XCX released her first mixtape, titled Heartbreaks and Earthquakes, a one-track file consisting of eight songs. <i>Number 1 Angel</i> 2017 mixtape by Charli XCX

Number 1 Angel is the third mixtape by English singer Charli XCX, released on 10 March 2017 by Asylum Records. The mixtape contains ten tracks and was created in Los Angeles as a collaboration with producer A. G. Cook, the founder of PC Music. Several other producers associated with the label also contributed to the mixtape, including Sophie who previously produced Charli XCX's extended play Vroom Vroom. Musically, it has been labeled as avant-pop and electropop.

<i>Pop 2</i> (mixtape) 2017 mixtape by Charli XCX

Pop 2 is the fourth mixtape by English singer Charli XCX, released on 15 December 2017 by Asylum Records. Executively produced by A. G. Cook of PC Music, sessions for the mixtape began several months before its release and featured a wide variety of guest contributions. The mixtape was backed by its only single "Out of My Head" featuring Alma and Tove Lo, released exactly one week before its release.

"Unlock It" is a 2017 song by Charli XCX featuring Kim Petras and Jay Park from XCX's mixtape Pop 2. Released as the second teaser from that mixtape either side of "Out of My Head" featuring Tove Lo and Alma and "I Got It" featuring Cupcakke, Brooke Candy, and Pabllo Vittar, the track samples A. G. Cook's "Beautiful" and was premiered on Zane Lowe's Beats 1 show the day of release. Reviewers praised the song, especially its lyrics. A mashup of the song with Tinashe's "Superlove" went viral on TikTok in 2021, shortly after which XCX renamed the track "Unlock It (Lock It)" to fan discontent. In 2022, Piri & Tommy released a cover that Vice rated as the 14th best song of 2022.

"Click" is a song by English singer Charli XCX featuring German singer Kim Petras and Estonian rave rapper Tommy Cash from Charli XCX's third studio album Charli (2019).

The song is a remix of "Ringtone" from 100 Gecs' debut studio album 1000 Gecs (2019). The song's production is glitchy with "80's video game-inspired blips" and uses heavy bass and Auto-Tune.

I'm with the Band: Nasty Cherry is a 2019 documentary streaming television series. The premise revolves around Charli XCX and her friend and the band's manager, Emmie Lichtenberg, and their progress putting the band Nasty Cherry together.

Planet 1999 is a French synth-pop and shoegaze band based in London. The group consists of members Caro, Alex, and Charles, who also operate as solo acts under the names caro♡, DJ Kit, and Ultralove, respectively. They were the first band to be signed to the record label PC Music. They also occasionally act as songwriters and record producers for other artists.

"Spinning" is a song by Filipino recording artist No Rome, English musician Charli XCX and band the 1975. The song was written by Andrew Wyatt, Charli XCX, No Rome and the 1975 members Matty Healy and George Daniel, while the production was handled by the latter three. It was released as a standalone single by Dirty Hit on 4 March 2021. Creation of the song began in 2018 when the producers developed its chorus, beat and production. Charli XCX received the song the following year, writing and recording her portion in one night. The singer later recorded vocals with Healy and Daniel in Sydney, while the song was completed remotely in early 2021.
