Gagananga Yukala, the Prince Bijitprijakara (Thai : คัคณางค์ยุคล; RTGS: Khakkhanang Yukhon) was a prince of Siam (later Thailand). He was a member of Siamese royal family and was a son of King Mongkut and Phueng Indravimala [1]

Life

Prince Gangananga Yukala was born on 29 October 1855 in Bangkok Siam (later Thailand) is a son of King Mongkut and Phueng Indravimala. He served as the second Minister of Justice of Siam from 1894 to 1896. Prince Gangananga Yukala died on 13 March 1909 at the age 53.

The 1st Infantry Regiment, King's Close Bodyguard is a King's Guard regiment under the 1st Division, King's Guard of the Royal Thai Army. The regiment is divided into three battalions, all of them based in Bangkok. The regiment is the only unit of the Royal Thai Armed Forces with the designation Mahat Lek Rajawallop ; meaning the king's close bodyguards, translated as the King's Own Bodyguards. The unit was first established by King Chulalongkorn in 1859, whilst he was still a young prince. One of the primary role of the regiment is to provide security and protection to members of the Thai royal family as well as the ceremonial escort and guarding of the royal palaces. The unit is the oldest regiment of the Thai army.

Ratchasakun refers to the surnames indicating royal descent from a Thai monarch of the Chakri Dynasty, first established in 1912 after King Rama VI enacted a series of laws granting surnames to the Thai people, with the laws expressly stating that all Thai citizens must have a "surname" indicating who they are related to, or whom they are descended from, with those who are direct members of the royal bloodlines to be called ratchasakun, those who have marital ties to the royal family to be referred to as ratchanikun (ราชนิกุล), and those descended from a Chakri Front Palace to be called bowon ratchasakun (บวรราชสกุล).
