Gaikhangam Gangmei (born 12 November 1950) is an Indian politician and member of Congress Working Committee. [1] He served as first Deputy Chief Minister of Manipur [2] from 2012-2017 and also as MPCC president. [3] [4] [5]
Gangmei was born in Gaidimjang,Khoupum valley in the Rongmei Naga family of Khangsillung and Lansillung. [6] [7] The youngest of eight siblings,Gangmei at the age of 12 adopted Christianity along with his mother. [6]
Although India is a parliamentary democracy,the country's politics has become dynastic or with high level of nepotism,possibly due to the absence of party organizations,independent civil-society associations which mobilize support for a party,or centralized financing of elections. The dynastic phenomenon is present at the national,state,regional,and district level. Ajit Anantrao Pawar is an Indian politician who is currently serving,alongside Devendra Fadnavis,the Deputy Chief Minister of Maharashtra from 2 July,2023.
