Yolanda Gail Devers is an American retired track and field sprinter who competed in the 60 metres, 60 m hurdles, 100 m and 100 m hurdles. One of the greatest and most decorated female sprinters of all time, she was the 1993, 1997 and 2004 world indoor champion in the 60 m, while in the 60 m hurdles, she was the 2003 world indoor champion and 2004 silver medalist. In the 100 m, she is the second woman in history to defend an Olympic 100 m title, winning gold at both the 1992 and 1996 Olympics. She was also the 1993 world champion in the event, becoming the first ever female sprinter to simultaneously hold the world and Olympic titles in the 100m. In the 100 m hurdles, she was the 1993, 1995 and 1999 world champion, and the 1991 and 2001 world silver medalist. In 2011, she was inducted into the National Track and Field Hall of Fame.

Laura Gail Siering is an American former competition swimmer who represented the United States at the 1976 Summer Olympics in Montreal, Quebec. She won a silver medal as a member of the second-place U.S. team in the women's 4×100-meter medley relay, together with Linda Jezek (backstroke), Camille Wright (butterfly), and Shirley Babashoff (freestyle). Siering also competed in the women's 100-meter breaststroke and 200-meter breaststroke at the 1976 Olympics, but did not advance to the finals in either event.
Emmanuel "Emma" Lucenti is a judoka from Argentina. He competed at the 2008, 2012 and 2016 Summer Olympics in the men's half-middleweight (-81 kg). At the 2008 Summer Olympics, he lost in second round to Euan Burton. At the 2012 Summer Olympics, he reached the quarter-finals, where he lost to Kim Jae-bum. As Kim continued on to the gold medal match, Lucenti took part in the bronze medal repechage, where he lost in the first round to Antoine Valois-Fortier. At the 2016 Summer Olympics, Lucenti was once again eliminated by Valois-Fortier, this time in the third round.
The men's marathon event at the 1948 Summer Olympic Games took place on August 7. Forty-one athletes from 21 nations competed. The maximum number of athletes per nation had been set at 3 since the 1930 Olympic Congress. The race was won by Delfo Cabrera of Argentina, the nation's second victory in three Games. Tom Richards's silver medal put Great Britain on the podium for the third time in a row, while Étienne Gailly earned Belgium's first marathon medal with his bronze.

While residing in the United States, Crescimbeni claimed the 2007 Florida High School state championship title in his signature events, and later served as a member of the Florida Gators swimming and diving team under head coach Gregg Troy.
