Gail Whitsett is a former member of the Oregon House of Representatives representing District 56 including Klamath Falls and surrounding sections of southern Klamath County and southern Lake County,Oregon. [1] She is married to Doug Whitsett,a veterinarian who formerly served as a member of the Oregon State Senate. Gail was his chief of staff before being elected to office. The couple owns farmland in the Klamath Basin where they raise horses. They have been involved in policy negotiations over water issues.
Whitsett won the 2012 Republican nomination over Tracey Liskey. Whitsett opposes the Klamath Basin Restoration Agreement and the precedent it establishes for removing dams. [2] She served on the Agriculture and Natural Resources Committee,Energy and Environment Committee and Human Services and Housing Committee. [3] [4] She is a geologist with Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees from Oregon State University. [2]

Klamath Falls is a city in,and the county seat of,Klamath County,Oregon,United States. The city was originally called Linkville when George Nurse founded the town in 1867. It was named after the Link River,on whose falls the city was sited. The name was changed to Klamath Falls in 1893. The population was 21,813 at the 2020 census. The city is on the southeastern shore of the Upper Klamath Lake.

Upper Klamath Lake is a large,shallow freshwater lake east of the Cascade Range in south-central Oregon in the United States. Parties to the agreement included the state of California,the state of Oregon,the Karuk Tribe,the Klamath Tribes,the Yurok Tribe,Del Norte County,California,Humboldt County,California,Klamath County,Oregon,Siskiyou County,California;26 private individuals,companies,and local irrigation districts;and seven NGOs including California Trout and Trout Unlimited.

Robert Albert Emmitt,also known as Bob Emmitt or Judge Emmitt,was an American farmer and politician. He served two two-year terms in the Oregon House of Representatives as a Republican legislator,representing a large rural district in eastern Oregon. He was also a justice of the peace in Klamath County and later the postmaster and justice of the peace for the city of Klamath Falls,Oregon.
