The Seoul Metropolitan Subway is a metropolitan railway system consisting of 23 rapid transit, light metro, commuter rail and people mover lines located in northwest South Korea. The system serves most of the Seoul Metropolitan Area including the Incheon metropolis and satellite cities in Gyeonggi province. Some regional lines in the network stretch out beyond the Seoul Metropolitan Area to rural areas in northern Chungnam province and western Gangwon province, that lie over 100 km (62 mi) away from the capital.
Rapid transit systems operate in six major South Korean cities, except for Sejong.
The Gyeongui Line is a railway line between Seoul Station and Dorasan Station in Paju. Korail operates the Seoul Metropolitan Subway service between Seoul Station and Dorasan Station.

The station is the terminus for high-speed and long-distance trains on a number of railway lines, including most trains on the Honam Line, its high-speed counterpart, and all trains on the Janghang and Jeolla Lines.

Seoul Subway Line 1 of the Seoul Metropolitan Subway is a rapid transit and commuter rail line which links central Seoul, South Korea to Yeoncheon in the northeast, Incheon in the southwest, and Sinchang via Suwon and Cheonan in the south. The central underground portion of Line 1, running underneath Sejongno, Jongno, and Wangsan-ro avenues along Seoul's traditional downtown area, is the oldest subway-operated section in the Seoul Metropolitan Subway system. Its branches and services cover a large part of the Seoul Capital Area; totaling 200.60 km (124.65 mi) in route length.
Hongik University Station is a station on Seoul Subway Line 2, AREX and the Gyeongui–Jungang Line. As its name indicates, it serves the nearby Hongik University. It was formerly known as Donggyo Station, after the neighborhood that it serves.
Cheongnyangni Station (청량리역) is a major railway station located at Dongdaemun-gu, Seoul, South Korea. It serves as a terminus for passenger trains serving the eastern part of South Korea. KTX, ITX-Cheongchun, and Mugunghwa-ho trains terminates or stops at this station. Several Seoul Metropolitan Subway lines serve the station. These are: Seoul Subway Line 1, the Gyeongchun Line, the Suin–Bundang Line and the Gyeongui–Jungang Line.
Gongdeok Station is a subway station on Seoul Subway Line 5, Line 6, AREX and the Gyeongui–Jungang Line.
Hyochang Park Station is a subway station on Seoul Subway Line 6 and the Gyeongui–Jungang Line. It is named after Hyochang Park. Nearby is the Hyochang Stadium, a small field capable of hosting sports events. The Yongsan District Office is also nearby.
Hoegi Station is a station on Seoul Subway Line 1, the Gyeongchun Line and the Gyeongui–Jungang Line. The two island platforms are side-by-side with each other, and are connected by an overpass. This is the closest station to Kyung Hee University, located northwest of here.
Jihaeng Station is a ground-level metro station on Line 1 of the Seoul Subway in Jihaeng-dong, Dongducheon, South Korea. It opened on January 30, 2005, to services on the Gyeongwon Line and services on the Seoul Metropolitan Subway began calling here on December 15, 2006. The station offers access to Dongducheon Foreign Language High School, Central Middle and High School, Jihaeng Elementary School, Science Tower and Songnae-dong Office, among other places.
Bupyeong District is one of the 10 administrative divisions that comprise Incheon, South Korea. Bupyeong-gu comprises an area of 12.35 square miles, and has a population of 508,587. It is located north of Namdong-gu, east of Seo-gu, and south of Gyeyang-gu. The city of Bucheon, in neighboring Gyeonggi Province, comprises its eastern limit.
Dongducheon Jungang Station (Korean: 동두천중앙역) is a train station on the Seoul Subway Line 1 and the Gyeongwon Line. The name means Dongducheon Central Station. It was also once known as Eosu-dongStation.
Munsan Station (Korean: 문산역) is a railway station on the Gyeongui–Jungang Line. It is notable for being the closest station on the Seoul Metropolitan Subway to the border with North Korea that is open for passenger service, only a few kilometers away.
Sogang University Station is a station on the Gyeongui–Jungang Line in Seoul, South Korea. Seogang Station was renamed Sogang University Station on March 17, 2014.
The Gyeonggang Line (경강선) is a rail line in South Korea, which at present comprises two distinct sections. The first one, which opened on September 24, 2016, is part of the Seoul Metropolitan Subway system in Gyeonggi-do, South Korea, and runs from the city of Seongnam to Yeoju City, partially coinciding with the route of the former narrow-gauge Suryeo Line. The second section, which is located entirely in Gangwon Province, runs between Gangneung and Wonju and opened on December 22, 2017, in anticipation of the 2018 Winter Olympics. This section of the line offers KTX service from Seoul, through the Jungang Line. In the future, the two sections are to be connected, and the Gyeonggang Line will be extended westwards to Siheung.
Incheon Transit Corporation (인천교통공사), formerly known as Incheon Rapid Transit Corporation (인천지하철공사) currently operates the Incheon Subway, Wolmi Sea Train, Incheon Bus information, Incheon Bus Terminal, Call taxi for the handicapped in Incheon, South Korea, established in 1993. In 2011 Incheon Transit Corporation merged with ′Incheon Metro′, established in 1998 to operate Incheon Subway Line 1, Incheon Subway Line 2, the section of Seoul Subway Line 7 between Kkachiul & Seongnam, & the Incheon Airport Maglev. In the future it also has plans to operate Line 3.
The Gyeongui–Jungang Line is a commuter rail service of the Seoul Metropolitan Subway system, operating on trackage from the Gyeongui Line and the Jungang Line.
