The 2009 Cataño oil refinery fire was a fire that began with an explosion on October 23, 2009, and was extinguished on October 25 at the Caribbean Petroleum Corporation (CAPECO) oil refinery and oil depot in Bayamón, Puerto Rico. While the fire and subsequent explosion occurred close to the city of Cataño, it technically occurred within the borders of Bayamón, even though Cataño was more affected by fumes and evacuation. There were no fatalities, but 3 people were injured.

The plant, idled since April 2020 and being converted to a renewable fuels manufacturing facility, is located in the San Francisco Bay Area in an unincorporated area known as Avon, east of Martinez, California. The refinery is owned by Marathon Petroleum Company.
Jamestown is an unincorporated community located along Interstate 40 in McKinley County, New Mexico, United States. El Paso Natural Gas Company built a refinery at the Continental Divide in New Mexico around the area of 35.48698357712149, -108.4264608980443. The refinery was known locally as the Gallup Refinery or the Ciniza Refinery. By 1964, El Paso Gas sold the refinery to the Shell Oil Company. Then in 1982, Giant Oil Refining purchased the refinery from Shell. In 1987. Giant built the largest truck stop and retail facility in their chain one mile south from the refinery. On June 7, 2003, Giant sold its travel center in Jamestown to Pilot Travel Centers. Pilot Travel Center #305 houses Jamestown's post office; the post office has ZIP code 87347. Also inside the travel center's mall are a Subway and a Denny's as well as a thirty-seat theater. Near the mall, and still part of the Pilot Travel Center, is a Bosselman Boss Shop available for full service truck servicing and repair.
The Marathon Anacortes Refinery, prior to October 2018 known as the Andeavor Anacortes Refinery and prior to August 2017 known as the Tesoro Anacortes Refinery, is a petroleum refinery located about 70 miles north of Seattle on March Point, just outside Anacortes, Washington. The refinery has operated in Anacortes since 1955, and has 425 full-time employees. It has a 120,000 barrels per day (bpd) capacity and is operated by Marathon Petroleum.
HF Sinclair operates the Puget Sound Refinery located on March Point outside of Anacortes, Wash. The plant is the largest taxpayer in Skagit County and one of the county's largest employers. The refinery has a capacity of 145,000 barrels a day, making it the 52nd largest in the United States, in 2015, with facilities that include a delayed coker, fluid catalytic cracker, polymerization unit and alkylation units. Based on the secondary processing units in place, the facility likely follows a 3-2-1 crack spread. HF Sinclair’s refinery produces three grades of gasoline, fuel oil, diesel fuel, propane and butane. This plant is currently the only refinery in Washington state unable to accommodate tight oil via rail. The permitting process is currently underway for the proposed 60,000 b/d unloading capacity of the East Gate Rail Project.
