Garrin Mountain, or Kuh-e Garin, is a vast high-elevated mountain of the Zagros Mountains, located in Hamedan Province and Lorestan Province of western Iran.

Contents

Garrin is limited to Borujerd from the east, to Alashtar from the west, and to Nahavand from the north. It has several peaks 3,000+ meters above sea level. Of these, Velash Peak is the highest at 3,630 metres (11,910 ft).

The Iranian Plateau or the Persian Plateau is a geological feature in Central Asia, South Asia, and Western Asia. Kabir Kouh

Kabir Kuh is one of the long ranges of the Zagros Mountains near the border of Lurestan and Ilam Provinces in Ilam province, Iran. Covering an area of 9,500 km2 (3,700 sq mi), Kabir Kuh stretches 175 km (109 mi) in length and 48–80 km (30–50 mi) in width along the Zagros Mountains in the Northwest-Southeast direction. It begins about 20 km (12 mi) south of Ilam and stretches down to the vicinity of Andimeshk in Khuzestan. Made mainly by Cretaceous sedimentary rocks, the Kabir Kuh range consists of a large number of mountains, including Shah Ahmad, Tabriz, Kaleh-bad, Filman, Damaghey-e Anar, Rivasan, Puneh, Sabzkhani, Zarrin, Golgol that are covered by snow and ice all year round. Its highest peak is Kan Seifi with 3,050 m (10,010 ft) elevation, 50 km (31 mi) south of Ilam. Kabir Kuh runs along the Seymareh river, which becomes Karkheh when joins the Kashkan river before reaching the border of Ilam province and Khuzestan province. Kabir Kuh divides the mountainous region in western Iran into two regions generally referred as Piškuh and Poštkuh, the latter virtually coinciding with Ilam.

Kerman Province Province of Iran

Zagros Mountains Mountain range in Western Asia

The Zagros Mountains are a long mountain range in Iran, northern Iraq and southeastern Turkey. This mountain range has a total length of 1,600 km (990 mi). The Zagros mountain range begins in northwestern Iran and roughly follows Iran's western border, while covering much of southeastern Turkey and northeastern Iraq. From this border region, the range roughly follows Iran's coast on the Persian Gulf. It spans the whole length of the western and southwestern Iranian plateau, ending at the Strait of Hormuz. The highest point is Mount Dena, at 4,409 metres (14,465 ft).

Sahand Stratovolcano in Iran

Mount Damavand

Mount Damavand, a potentially active volcano 5600-m high, is a stratovolcano which is the highest peak in Iran and the highest volcano in Asia. Damāvand has a special place in Persian mythology and folklore. It is in the middle of the Alborz range, adjacent to Varārū, Sesang, Gol-e Zard, and Mīānrūd. It is near the southern coast of the Caspian Sea, in Amol County, Mazandaran Province, 66 km (41 mi) northeast of the city of Tehran.

Alam-Kuh

It is located in Kelardasht District of Mazandaran Province of Iran. With an elevation of 4,805 meters, it is the second-highest peak in Iran after Mount Damavand.

Azad Kuh

Azad Kuh is one of the highest peaks in the central Alburz Range in Mazandaran province north of Iran. In Persian Kuh means mountain and Azad means free, so Azad Kuh can be translated to The Free Mountain. This name is probably chosen by local people because of Azad Kuh's cone like shape and the fact that it is not connected to its surrounding peaks.

Kūh-Zibad its peak also called Tir Mahi is a mountain in the province of Razavi Khorasan, city of Gonabad District Zibad in the eastern part of the country, 700 km east of the capital Tehran. The Peak of the Moantain is called Qole -e Tir Mahi is 2,557 metres (8,389 ft) above sea level, or 431 m (1,414 ft) above the surrounding terrain. The width at the base is 5.5 km. The terrain around the Qole-e Tir Mahi and Kuh-e zibad is mainly hilly. The highest point in the vicinity is 2775 meters above sea level, 17.7 km southeast of Qole-e Tir mahi. Around Kuh-e Zibad is very sparsely populated, with 5 inhabitants per square kilometer. Nearest society zibad, 8.5 km north of Kuh-e Zibad. The neighborhood around Kuh-e Zibad is barren with little or vegetation. In the neighborhood around the Kuh-e Zibad are unusually many named mountains and valleys. A cold steppe climate prevailing in the region. The average annual temperature in the area is 17 °C. The warmest month is July when the average temperature is 30 °C, and the coldest is January, with 1 °C. Average annual rainfall is 211 mm (8 in). The rainiest month is February, with an average of 58 mm (2 in) of precipitation, and the driest is July, with 1 mm of precipitation. This mountain had been referred in some historical book such as shahnameh in Davazdah Rokhwar as the Zibad mountain and its eastern part is called black mountain or kuh Gonabad. the long range mountain called Qohestan and It extends from Bajestan to Birjand near the border with Afghanistan this rang mountain separate south khorasan from Razavi Khorasan,part of this rang mountain near Kakhk is called black mountain or kuh e gonabad
