Gary B. Myrick is Secretary for the Majority of the United States Senate. [1]
As Secretary for the Majority,Myrick is chief procedural advisor to the Senate Democratic Leader,Senator Charles Schumer,and supervises the majority's reaction to the day-to-day Senate schedule. [2] Roll Call reporters and editors have repeatedly cited Myrick among leading Capitol Hill staffers. [3] Myrick helped manage Senate passage of,among other things,the Water Resources Development Act of 2013, [4] the 2013 Farm Bill, [5] and the immigration reform bill of 2013. [6]
Myrick served as Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid’s Chief of Staff in the 110th and 111th Congresses. In this post,Myrick oversaw the Majority Leader’s staff and was responsible for helping craft policy,develop strategy,and conduct outreach on behalf of the Majority Leader and Democratic Caucus. [7] The Senate elected Myrick Secretary for the Majority on January 5,2011. [8] After the Republicans took back the majority in the 2014 elections,Myrick moved from Secretary for the Majority to Secretary for the Minority. In January 2021,he returned to being Secretary for the Majority. [1]
Myrick joined Senator Reid’s office in 2003,when Reid,then Senate Minority Whip,asked him to serve as his Floor Counsel. In this position,Myrick quickly became one of Senator Reid’s top aides,and in 2005 he was named Deputy Chief of Staff. [7]
Schumer is the fourth Senate Democratic Leader for whom Myrick has worked. He started his Senate career as an intern for Senate Majority Leader George J. Mitchell while attending the University of Maine. After graduating,he moved to Washington,D.C.,to work as a staff assistant in Senator Mitchell’s office and as a member of Mitchell’s Cloakroom staff. While working in the Democratic Cloakroom,Myrick attended night classes at the Washington College of Law at American University,earning a J.D. in 1995. When Mitchell retired in 1995,Gary joined the Senate Floor Staff under incoming Democratic Leader Tom Daschle. [7]

Charles Ellis Schumer is an American politician serving as Senate Majority Leader since 2021 and the senior United States senator from New York since 1999. A member of the Democratic Party,he has led the Senate Democratic Caucus since 2017 and was Senate Minority Leader from 2017 to 2021. Schumer is in his fifth Senate term,making him the longest-serving US senator from New York,having surpassed Daniel Patrick Moynihan and Jacob K. Javits in 2023. He is the dean of New York's congressional delegation.

George Miller III is an American politician who served as a U.S. representative from California from 1975 to 2015. A member of the Democratic Party,he represented the state's 7th congressional district until redistricting in 2013 and 11th congressional district until his retirement. Miller served as Chairman of the House Natural Resources Committee from 1991 to 1995 and Chairman of the House Education and Labor Committee from 2007 until 2011.

Lula Johnson Davis was Secretary for the Majority of the United States Senate from 2008 to 2011. Davis was born in Louisiana. She received a B.S. in office administration and an M.Ed.,in guidance counseling from Southern University in Baton Rouge,Louisiana. She began her career with the Senate as a legislative correspondent for Senator Russell B. Long of Louisiana. After Senator Long retired from the Senate in January 1987,Davis worked as an office assistant for the Democratic Policy Committee's Senate floor staff office. In 1993,she became a member of the Democratic floor staff. In 1995,she was promoted to chief floor assistant. In 1997,she assumed the position of assistant secretary. After the retirement of Martin P. Paone,in January 2008,the Senate elected Davis Secretary for the Majority. As Secretary for the Majority,she was a senior procedural advisor to the Senate Majority Leader,Senator Harry Reid,and supervised the day-to-day Senate schedule. In so doing,she often worked with Secretary for the Minority David J. Schiappa. Davis told Senators what they could and could not do when it came to rules and procedure. Consequently,Davis was called “one of the most powerful unelected people in the U.S. Senate.”Davis retired at the end of the 111th Congress.
The United States House of Representatives Page Program was a program run by the United States House of Representatives,under the office of the Clerk of the House,in which high school students acted as non-partisan federal employees in the House of Representatives,providing supplemental administrative support to House operations in a variety of capacities in Washington,D.C.,at the United States Capitol. The program ended in 2011,although the Senate Page program continued. Pages served within the U.S. House of Representatives for over 180 years.

Martha S. Pope is an American public servant who participated in peace initiatives in Northern Ireland that led to the Good Friday Agreement in 1998. She also served as the sergeant at arms of the United States Senate from 1991 to 1994,the first woman to hold the role. She briefly served as Secretary of the United States Senate for a few months in 1994 before she was asked to assist in the Northern Ireland peace process. Pope is the only person in the history of the U.S. Senate to hold both the important Secretary and Sergeant at Arms positions. She was also Chief of Staff to Senate Majority Leader George J. Mitchell. She is also a pastel artist.
