Gary E. Sherman (born May 5,1949) is an American judge and former legislator from Wisconsin. Sherman served in the Wisconsin State Assembly from 1998–2010. He served as a Judge on the Wisconsin Court of Appeals from 2010–2019.
Born in Chicago,Illinois,Sherman received his bachelors and law degrees from University of Wisconsin–Madison,and lives in Port Wing,Wisconsin. [1] He was appointed to the Wisconsin Court of Appeals,succeeding Judge Burnie Bridge,who retired in 2010. [2] In May 2010,Sherman resigned from the Wisconsin Assembly and was sworn in as judge of the Wisconsin State Court of Appeals. [3] Sherman retired on July 4,2019. [4]

Burnie Bridge was an appellate judge for the District IV in the Wisconsin Court of Appeals. She was appointed in 2007,with her term set to expire on July 31,2014. In October 2009,Bridge retired from the court effective in January 2010.

The Wisconsin Government Accountability Board (G.A.B.) was a regulatory agency of the U.S. state of Wisconsin which administered and enforced Wisconsin law pertaining to campaign finance,elections,ethics,and lobbying. The board was composed of six retired Wisconsin judges who served staggered,six-year terms. The board was created in 2007 as an attempt to reform and modernize Wisconsin's elections and ethics management. The board was dissolved in 2016 by the Republican legislature and replaced by two new commissions with explicitly partisan appointees,over the objections of Democratic legislators.
