Gemilang is an album released in 2005 by Jaclyn Victor, the first Malaysian Idol. This album has eleven tracks, including Tunggu Sekejap, When I Fall in Love and Gemilang, the three songs performed by Jaclyn Victor which eventually led to her winning the inaugural competition.

Jaclyn Victor Malaysian singer; Malaysian Idol winner

Jaclyn Joshua Thanaraj Victor, better known by her stage name Jaclyn Victor, is a Malaysian singer and actress who won the inaugural Malaysian Idol and Ikon Malaysia. As the winner of Malaysian Idol, she won a recording contract with Sony BMG Music Entertainment. She represented Malaysia in the first Asian Idol and Ikon Asean. She has been dubbed "Asia's Divette" for her vocal prowess and a legend in M'sia.

Malaysian Idol television series

Malaysian Idol is the Malaysian version of the Idol Series that started in UK, similar to shows such as UK's Pop Idol and American Idol in the franchise. This show is a contest to determine the best young singer in Malaysia, with the winner receiving a major record deal, although some runners-up have achieved enough fame to ink record deals of their own. Like any other Idol show, the winner is decided by public votes. The Malaysian Idol series has gained a following in Malaysia from people of all ages partly due to their interest in American Idol which had been introduced a few years prior. Malaysian Idol has been broadcast to Malaysian viewers via terrestrial television, 8TV and TV3.

History

"Gemilang", the first track, was composed by Aubrey Suwito, an award-winning composer. After hitting the stores across Malaysia, Gemilang sold thousands of CDs, achieving gold status within days. This CD topped the charts of ERA fm, hitz.fm, and other local charts, surpassing those of many other famous local artists. The album has sold 20,000 copies to date. [2]

Aubrey Suwito is a Malaysian pianist, keyboardist, songwriter, arranger and producer. Aubrey Suwito started his musical journey at the age of 6 and has since written songs for various artists, most notably Gemilang for Jaclyn Victor which won multiple awards including the Asian Music Festival and Anugerah Juara Lagu. He was the musical director on Malaysian Idol. Aubrey also worked as musical director for the hit reality television talent search competition One in a Million. He is also the older brother of singer/songwriter Juwita Suwito. And he is a composer of Akademi Fantasia and Akademi Fantasi Indosiar theme song, namely Menuju Puncak.

Awards

Anugerah Industri Muzik, commonly known by the acronym AIM, is the award ceremony to honour the Malaysian music industry. The award is organised by Recording Industry Association of Malaysia (RIM) and was first held on 15 December 1993. It is Malaysia's equivalent of the Grammy awards. The award is not only focused on Malay-language music produced in Malaysia, but also English, Chinese and Indian language music as well, in which separate awards were introduced for the latter two language music subcategories in 1999 and 2013 respectively.

Anugerah Juara Lagu

Anugerah Juara Lagu, commonly known by the acronym AJL, is a popular annual music competition in Malaysia, organised by TV3 since 1986. It features the best musical and lyrical compositions of each year it is held. Nominees are derived from a list of mostly Malay-language songs which have garnered the most public votes in Muzik Muzik throughout the year, and then progress into the semifinals, from which twelve songs will be nominated by a panel of judges to become the winner of Juara Lagu.

Pop Shuvit is a Malaysian independent hip hop-rap rock band. Comprising Moots! <i>Transkripsi</i> 2006 studio album by Siti Nurhaliza

Transkripsi is the eleventh studio album from Malaysian pop singer-songwriter Siti Nurhaliza and has been touted as Malaysia's Best Album of 2006. It also hailed as Siti's best album ever. The album was released on 23 April 2006 in Malaysia, Singapore and Brunei and at a later time in Indonesia. Siti performed the first single, "Biarlah Rahsia", at the Anugerah Planet Muzik in 2006 which was aired live from Singapore, weeks before the actual release date. The album features of what Siti describes as "the assemble of emotions or feelings which combined as one for as long as we live". The album has sold over 80 thousand copies. The album has been nominated for the Best Vocal Performance in an Album (Female), Best Album Cover and Best Music Video, won Best Pop Album and Best Album at the Anugerah Industri Muzik in 2007.

Hiresh Haridas, better known by his stage name Reshmonu, is a singer-songwriter from Malaysia who does mostly English songs. He is known for songs such as "Walk Away", "Cintaku Pergi", "Hey Waley" and "Superfine". He is of Malayali descent. In July 2015, he rebranded himself as just Resh citing the name "Reshmonu" was a part of "coming-of-age" process.

Estranged is a Malaysian alternative rock band that formed in Damansara, Kuala Lumpur in 2001.
