Georgios Balarjishvili (born 23 September 2002) is a Cypriot judoka.

Balarjishvili won a gold medal at the 2022 Commonwealth Games in the 66 kg event after defeating Finlay Allan in the final. It was Cyprus' first ever Commonwealth Games gold medal in judo. [2] He was also, at the age of nineteen, the second youngest winner ever beheind Craig Fallon in 2002. Prior to the Commonwealth Games, Balarjishvili had claimed a bronze medal at the Junior European Cup in Athens in 2022. [3]

Joshua Katz is an Australian Olympic judoka, who competes at −60kg. He had won 11 Oceania titles and 12 Australian titles as of February 2024. He also won the 2022 Commonwealth Games bronze medal and the 2023 Pan American-Oceania Judo Championships silver medal.

Raz Hershko is an Israeli Olympic silver medalist and European champion judoka. She was the 2015 European U18 Champion, the 2017 European U23 championships silver medalist, and won a bronze medal in the 2023 world championships. She competed for Israel at the 2020 Summer Olympics, winning a bronze medal in mixed team. She is the 2024 European Champion. Representing Israel at the 2024 Paris Olympics, Hershko won the silver medal in judo in the women's +78 kg, and also competed in the mixed team event, in which Team Israel came in ninth.

The World Judo Juniors Championships are the highest level of international judo competition for juniors, 21 years of age or less. The championships are held once every year by the International Judo Federation, and qualified judoka compete in their respective categories as representatives of their home countries. The World Juniors Championships are the only junior event awarding ranking points for the seniors world ranking list. The last edition of the championships took place in Odivelas, Portugal in 2023.

Cyprus competed at the 2022 Commonwealth Games at Birmingham, England from 28 July to 8 August 2022. It was Cyprus' 11th appearance at the Games.

The Men's 66 kg judo competitions at the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, England took place on August 1 at the Coventry Arena. A total of 16 competitors from 14 nations took part.
