Plot

The cartoon begins with a dog named Duffy inside a pet shop. He sees a man walking by the store. he knocks on the window to get the man's attention. The man reads Duffy's signs that reads "FOR SALE", "CHEAP!" and " MANS BEST FRIEND.". The man refuses to buy Duffy and leaves. After shedding a tear, Duffy gets mad and roars a big ferocious roar and runs out of the store and bites the man's pants. The man screams in pain and exclaims "Oooh, that smarts!". Duffy returns to the store to wait for someone else to buy him.

Later, we see Woody Woodpecker strolling down the street and he stops and sees Duffy at the pet store. Duffy holds a sign that reads "TAKE ME HOME" and pulls out another that reads "I CAN DO TRICKS" and pulls out another that says "WATCH CLOSELY". Duffy demonstrates by doing a saw trick, but Woody says that anybody can do that trick. Duffy then demonstrates by putting a cloth on a table before pulling the cloth out, revealing woodpecker seeds. Woody decides to buy Duffy.

Woody takes Duffy to "MISS MEANY'S BOARDING HOUSE". Woody goes inside and closes the door, revealing a "NO! DOGS ALLOWED" sign, causing Duffy to roar at it and tear it up. Woody opens the door and Duffy gets in a suitcase that Woody has got. Woody sneaks in, but Miss Meany catches him and asks him what's he got in the suitcase. Woody replies that it's his lunch. Duffy's body parts keep popping out as Woody tries to put them back in until he gets them back in. Woody walks to his room as Duffy's tail is exposed. Miss Meany grabs Duffy out of the suitcase and Woody hears Duffy's roar. He and Duffy get thrown out of the building, forcing them to come up with a plan.
