Ghazi Shaheed is a 1998 thriller drama film based on the disasters that befell the PNS Ghazi on Bay of Bengal. It was directed by Kazim Pasha and stars Shabbir Jan as Commander Zafar Khan and Adnan Jilani as Lieutenant-Commander Pervez Hameed. The film was financed and produced by the ISPR and the Navy and was filmed mostly in the Arabian Sea.

This film revolves around the crew of PNS Ghazi , a Pakistan Navy's Tench class submarine that intruded in India at the coast of Vishakapatnam during the Indo-Pakistani War of 1971. It ventured into Indian waters to destroy INS Vikrant on the shores of Visakhapatnam. [2] [3] [4] 92 men were killed while serving their country aboard PNS Ghazi, the first Pakistani submarine and also the only one at that time with the ability to lay mines and a long range.

Lieutenant Colonel Qazi Altaf Hussain (1920–1999) served in the British Indian Army later taking up a place in the Army of Pakistan. He advanced to various positions of leadership during his military career, serving as lieutenant colonel of the 11 Frontier Force Regiment, commandant of the Zhob Militia in Quetta, Pakistan, and commander of a regiment in the Indo-Pakistani War of 1965. Commander Zafar Muhammad Khan was a naval officer in the Pakistan Navy who was the Captain and Commanding Officer of PNS Ghazi during the Indo-Pakistani War of 1971. The PNS Ghazi was sunk under mysterious circumstances while on a reconnaissance mine-laying mission in the approaches to the Indian port of Visakhapatnam and sank at about 00:10 hours. A total of 93 men, including 11 commissioned officers, and 82 non-commissioned officers lost their lives. In 1971, he was one of the naval officers who were posthumously awarded Hilal-i-Jur'at for their actions.

PNS Hameed is a very low frequency (VLF) radio transmitter facility of the Pakistan Navy, located near at the coastal areas of Karachi, Sindh, Pakistan. The primary mission of this naval base is to communicate orders with the submerged submarines in the Arabian Sea at very low frequency. It is the first of its kind facility with very low frequency transmission capabilities, which will enable the Pakistan Navy to communicate with its submerged submarines.

Lieutenant General Chaudhary Sarfraz Ali was a three star Pakistani general who was serving as Corps Commander Quetta since December 2020 and Commander of the Azad Kashmir Regiment since December 2021 until his death in a helicopter crash on 1 August 2022.

Major General Bilal Omer KhanHI(M) SBt known affectionately as Billy was a two-star rank general in the Pakistan Army who died in the December 2009 Rawalpindi attack along with 39 others. He was posthumously awarded the Sitara-e-Basalat on Pakistan Day 2010. His cousin is the former Prime Minister of Pakistan Imran Khan. He held the positions of Director General Armoured Corps (Pakistan), Director General Plans and Operations at Joint Staff Headquarters (Pakistan), commander 11th Infantry Division (Pakistan), commander 10th Infantry Division, and commander 111th Infantry Brigade (Pakistan).
