Giancarlo Volpe is an Italian-born American animator, director, producer and comic creator.
Graduating from the School of Visual Arts in 1997, Volpe began his career at Humongous Entertainment, animating on the children's computer games Pajama Sam 2: Thunder and Lightning Aren't so Frightening and Putt-Putt Enters the Race . In 1998, he began working at Film Roman to work on the Fox series King of the Hill , where he was a character layout artist and assistant director.
In 2005, Volpe went on to direct 19 episodes of the Nickelodeon series Avatar: The Last Airbender . He won an Annie award for the second season episode "The Drill".
In 2008, Volpe moved to Lucasfilm Animation as an episodic director on Star Wars: The Clone Wars where he worked directly with famed filmmaker George Lucas.
Volpe also produced the CG television show Green Lantern: The Animated Series , working with animation producer Bruce Timm. The series ran for 26 episodes and had a devout following, where its loyal fan base was dubbed “Fanterns”.
In January 2014, Warner Bros. Animation released JLA Adventures: Trapped in Time , which was produced and directed by Volpe. JLAATIT is a 52-minute direct-to-video movie featuring the Justice League and received critical praise for its fun factor and kid friendly tone.
In 2014, Volpe worked for Riot Games, where he helped create animated content based on wildly popular MOBA game League of Legends . The content was designed to expand upon the very fast world and character base of the game.
On February 14, 2015, Volpe launched his webcomic God of Love via his Tumblr. [1] The comic is 100% creator owned and features two elven lovers on the run when the goddess of love is replaced by an evil demon.
Volpe directed, wrote, and storyboarded for the Disney Channel animated series Star vs. the Forces of Evil from 2015 to 2017.
Volpe also helped to develop and direct the pilot for Mike Tyson Mysteries . [2]

Douglas Richard TenNapel is an American animator, writer, cartoonist, video game designer, and comic book artist whose work has encompassed animated television, video games, and comic books. He is best known for creating Earthworm Jim, a character that spawned a video game series, animated series, and a toy line. He is also the creator of the animated television series Catscratch (2005–2007), which aired on Nickelodeon, and was itself a loose adaptation of TenNapel's comic book limited series Gear.
Cel shading or toon shading is a type of non-photorealistic rendering designed to make 3D computer graphics appear to be flat by using less shading color instead of a shade gradient or tints and shades. A cel shader is often used to mimic the style of a comic book or cartoon and/or give the render a characteristic paper-like texture. There are similar techniques that can make an image look like a sketch, an oil painting or an ink painting. The name comes from cels, clear sheets of acetate which are painted on for use in traditional 2D animation.

Adventure Time is an American fantasy animated television series created by Pendleton Ward and co-produced by Frederator Studios for Cartoon Network. After the short became a viral hit on the Internet, Nickelodeon's executives passed on its option before Cartoon Network commissioned a full-length series from Fred Seibert and Ward, which was previewed on March 11, 2010. "Sozin's Comet" is the four-part series finale of the American animated fantasy action Nickelodeon television series Avatar: The Last Airbender, created by Michael Dante DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko. It was written by the creators alongside Aaron Ehasz, and directed by Ethan Spaulding, Giancarlo Volpe, and Joaquim Dos Santos. Although the finale is split into four episodes, it aired as a two-hour four-part film on July 19, 2008. The Saturday airing of "Sozin's Comet" acted as a climax to a week of ten new episodes that concluded Avatar's third season. Before the week of July 14–19, no episodes had been shown in the US since November 30, 2007, though some episodes had been released on DVD prior to their airdate. This is also considered a 92-minute television movie.
