Gilbert Ballantine (born 14 March 1961) is a Surinamese-Dutch retired professional kickboxer and a nine-time kickboxing and Muay Thai world champion. [1] He also took part in mixed martial arts competition, winning three Rings Dutch championships.
Ballantine started training in Judo at a young age, in which he received a blue belt. Then he began practicing Karate. He became a Dutch and European full contact karate champion. He also practised pencak silat. He then looked for bigger challenges, eventually discovering kickboxing and Muay Thai. Ballantine became a student of Thom Harinck, a pioneer of kickboxing in the west, and was one of the first top fighters who fought out of Chakuriki Gym. [2]
Ballantine became a three-time European and a nine-time World kickboxing and Muay Thai champion. [3] During his career he has faced many highly ranked Asian and European opponents. He holds notable victories over fighters such as Ramon Dekkers (twice), Sangtiennoi Sor.Rungroj and Michael Kuhr. He also faced Muay Thai legend Samart Payakaroon in Bangkok, Thailand.
After his kickboxing career, Ballantine also competed in mixed martial arts competition and won three Rings Dutch championships.
Ballantine retired from fighting in 2003. After his career, he taught Kickboxing and Muay Thai at Mandingo Gym, Purmerend.

Ramon Dekkers was a Dutch professional kickboxer and an eight-time Muay Thai world champion. Dekkers was a favourite with fight fans due to his fast-paced, aggressive fighting style. Dekkers was also renowned for his willingness to go abroad to fight the Thai champions in their own country.
Dieselnoi Chor Thanasukarn is a Thai former lightweight Muay Thai kickboxer and undefeated Lumpinee Stadium champion.
Stefan Leko is a German heavyweight kickboxer. Jomhod "King of the Ring" Kiatadisak is a professional Muay Thai fighter from Phang Nga province in the South of Thailand. He started learning muay Thai at the age of 7 and won his first fight when he was 11 years old. In 1986, Jomhod won the Southern Thailand Championship in 59.6 kg weight category and the same year, at the age of 16, he moved to Bangkok and began his proper fighting career.

James Phillips is a German heavyweight kickboxer of African American descent, currently competing in K-1. He is former European muay thai champion and two time K-1 Croatia tournament champion. He is trained by Michael Damboer and fights out of Thai-Bombs Mannheim.
K-1 Grand Prix '93 was a martial arts event held by the K-1 organization on April 30, 1993, at the Yoyogi National Gymnasium in Tokyo, Japan. It was the inaugural K-1 World Grand Prix, featuring an eight-man tournament fought under K-1 rules. The eight tournament qualifiers were all invited on the basis of their achievements in the kickboxing world. As well as tournament matches there was also a full contact karate bout between Andy Hug and Nobuaki Kakuda. The event featured ten fights with fighters representing seven countries. The winner was Branko Cikatić who defeated Ernesto Hoost in the final by first-round knockout, becoming the first K-1 World champion.
Thom Harinck is a Dutch kickboxer and kickboxing trainer and founder of the Chakuriki Gym in Amsterdam. He is married to Marjan Olfers, former member of the board of Ajax and from 1 May 2012 professor in sports law.
Charles François is a French Muay Thai kickboxer. He is the W.P.M.F. European Muaythai Champion and former W.P.M.F. World Muaythai Champion.
Vasily "Torero" Shish is a Belarusian Muay Thai middleweight kickboxer fighting out of Minsk, Belarus for the Chinuk Gym. He is a five time world and five time European Muaythai and kickboxing champion who has won titles at both amateur and professional level. Vasily has fought for several notable promotions such as K-1 MAX and Thai & Kickbox SuperLeague.

Superlek Kiatmuu9 is a professional Muay Thai fighter and kickboxer from Thailand. He is the current ONE Kickboxing Flyweight World Champion, the former two-weight Lumpinee Stadium champion and the former WBC Muaythai Super featherweight World champion. Wangchannoi Sor Palangchai or Wangchannoi Sor Sirada is a retired Muay Thai fighter from Thailand. He was a famous and popular fighter in the 80s and 90s. His complete record has not been saved, but it's expected to be around 300 fights with no more than 50 losses. He is well known for his heavy punching power. Vichean Bootdee, more popularly known under the ring name of Chamuekpet Hapalang is a Thai former Muay Thai fighter and professional boxer. Chamuekpet holds the unbroken record of total number of Lumpinee and Rajadamnern belts won, earning 9 titles in total across 7 weight classes. He fought in Bangkok in the late 1970s to the mid 1990s, and later on fought in Japan where he would also become a well-known Muay Thai trainer.
Pongsak Cheawchan, known in the public as Kaensak Sor.Ploenjit, is a Thai former Muay Thai fighter and professional boxer. He was one of the few fighters who held both Lumpinee and Rajadamnern titles in the same weight class simultaneously, as well as being the first person to earn the highly prestigious Fighter of the Year for 2 consecutive years. Kaensak was highest paid fighter of the Muay Thai golden era as well as being one of the most famous.
Sannithep Puprasong, who went by the ring name of Chatchai Paiseetong, was a Thai Muay Thai fighter. He was a two-time Lumpinee Stadium champion and was awarded the 1993 Fighter of the Year by the Sports Authority of Thailand during the golden era of Muay Thai.
