Glenbard South High School (GSHS) is a public four-year high school located in Glen Ellyn, Illinois, United States. It is part of Glenbard Township High School District 87, and is the smallest of the four Glenbard Township High Schools. It contains students within the boundary of Community Consolidated School District 89. [8]

History

Glenbard South was the fourth of the Glenbard high schools built. It opened in 1972. [9] The capacity of the building is 1500, but with additions, could actually house 2500 students.[ citation needed ]

Academics

In 2021, Glenbard South had an average composite SAT score of 1054.5, and graduated 95.1% of its senior class. [10]

Glenbard South has made Adequate Yearly Progress on the Prairie State Achievements Examination, a state test part of the No Child Left Behind Act. [11]

The staff includes approximately 112 teachers, of whom 91.5% hold an advanced degree. [12]

Athletics

Glenbard South was a charter member of the Western Sun Conference, but when that conference dissolved in 2010, GSHS became an independent school. Glenbard South joined the Metro Suburban Conference for the 2011–12 school year, but left the conference to join the Upstate Eight Conference in 2018. [6]

The boys' cross-country team won the Class AA Illinois state championship in 2001–02. [13]

In 2012 and 2013, the girls' softball team won state. [13]

In 2007, the boys' track and field 4X800m relay team won the Nike Outdoor Nationals competition with a time of 7:40.57. [14]

Bremen High School, BHS, or simply Bremen is a public four year high school located in Midlothian, Illinois. It is the first school built as part of Bremen Community High School District 228 which also includes Tinley Park High School, Hillcrest High School and Oak Forest High School. Bremen High School was opened in 1953 along with the creation of Bremen High School District 228 to serve students in the newly developing areas at the time. Bremen High School is named after the township in which it is located, Bremen Township.

The Western Sun Conference (WSC) was an organization of eight high schools in northern Illinois, representing eight communities in that part of the state. These high schools are all members of the Illinois High School Association. The conference began competing during the 2006-2007 academic year. Six of the schools came from the former Suburban Prairie Conference North division. The Western Sun Conference disbanded after the 2009-2010 academic year.

Greg Bloedorn was an American football offensive lineman for the Seattle Seahawks of the National Football League. He was signed by the Seahawks in 1996. Bloedorn played college football at Cornell University. His professional career spanned three active roster seasons with the Seattle Seahawks: 1997 to 1999 until he was released in 2000.
