Gmina Stary Brus is a rural gmina (administrative district) in Włodawa County, Lublin Voivodeship, in eastern Poland. Its seat is the village of Stary Brus, which lies approximately 20 kilometres (12 mi) south-west of Włodawa and 57 km (35 mi) north-east of the regional capital Lublin.
The gmina is the principal unit of the administrative division of Poland, similar to a municipality. As of 2010 there were 2,478 gminy throughout the country. The word gmina derives from the German word Gemeinde, meaning "community".
Włodawa County is a unit of territorial administration and local government (powiat) in Lublin Voivodeship, eastern Poland, on the border with Ukraine and Belarus. It was established on January 1, 1999, as a result of the Polish local government reforms passed in 1998. Its administrative seat and only town is Włodawa, which lies 76 kilometres (47 mi) north-east of the regional capital Lublin.
Lublin Voivodeship, or Lublin Province, is a voivodeship, or province, located in southeastern Poland. It was created on January 1, 1999, out of the former Lublin, Chełm, Zamość, Biała Podlaska and (partially) Tarnobrzeg and Siedlce Voivodeships, pursuant to Polish local government reforms adopted in 1998. The gmina covers an area of 133.4 square kilometres (51.5 sq mi), and as of 2006 its total population is 2,202.
The gmina contains part of the protected area called Polesie Landscape Park.
