Vernon Maxwell is an American former professional basketball player who was a shooting guard in the National Basketball Association (NBA) for thirteen seasons during the late 1980s, 1990s, and early 2000s. Maxwell played college basketball for the University of Florida, and led the Florida Gators to their first-ever NCAA tournament appearance. He was selected by the Denver Nuggets in the second round of the 1988 NBA Draft and was immediately traded to the San Antonio Spurs. His longest and most successful NBA tenure was with the Houston Rockets. The nickname "Mad Max" was bestowed upon Maxwell by color commentators for his clutch three-point shooting, which reached its pinnacle in the deciding game of the 1994 NBA Finals between Houston and New York. Maxwell is among just nine players in NBA history to amass 30 points in a single quarter, accomplishing that feat en route to a 51-point outing on January 26, 1991, against Cleveland.
Jack Wayne Sikma is an American former professional basketball center. He was a seven-time NBA All-Star with the Seattle SuperSonics, who drafted him in the first round with the eighth overall pick of the 1977 NBA draft. In 1979, he won an NBA championship with Seattle. Sikma finished his playing career with the Milwaukee Bucks. He was elected to the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame in 2019.
Terry Gilbert Dischinger is an American former basketball player in the National Basketball Association (NBA). Dischinger was a three-time NBA All-Star and the 1963 NBA Rookie of the Year, after averaging 28 points per game in his three seasons at Purdue University.

He played for the NBA teams Charlotte Bobcats from 2006 to 2009 and L.A. Lakers in 2009–2010.

The team played their home games at the McCarthey Athletic Center, which has a capacity of 6,000. The Bulldogs, were in their 33rd season as a member of the West Coast Conference, and were led by head coach Mark Few, who was in his 14th season as head coach. Nigel Williams-Goss is an American professional basketball player for Real Madrid of the Spanish Liga ACB and the EuroLeague. He was selected by the Utah Jazz, with the 55th overall pick in the 2017 NBA draft. He played college basketball for the Gonzaga Bulldogs. He spent two seasons with the University of Washington's Huskies, before deciding to transfer before the 2015–16 season. She won a WNBA championship in 2022, when she earned her first All-WNBA First Team selection and was named the WNBA All-Star Game Most Valuable Player (MVP) in her first WNBA All-Star Game. She also won the gold medal in Women's 3x3 basketball at the 2020 Summer Olympics.

Grant Leep, who served seven seasons as an assistant at Seattle Pacific, has been appointed as the school's head men's basketball coach Monday. Leep, 36, has strong basketball connections throughout the Northwest. He was an All-America player at Mount Vernon High School before lettering four years at the University of Washington. His coaching résumé includes stops at Eastern Washington and a pair of community colleges.

Leep averaged 18.2 points and 8.5 rebounds his junior year while leading Mount Vernon to a 28-1 record, losing only to Mercer Island in the title game. His senior season, the Bulldogs fell to a Jamal Crawford-led Rainier Beach team in the state semifinals. After high school: Played at Washington (1999-2002) for coach Bob Bender. As team captain his senior year, the 6-foot-7 forward averaged 7.4 points and led the Pac-10 in three-point field-goal percentage (.481).
