Great Spruce Head Island is a privately owned island in Penobscot Bay, Maine, United States. It is part of Deer Isle town in Hancock County. It has long belonged to the family of the painter Fairfield Porter and his brother photographer Eliot, both of whom did creative work there. For example, Eliot's book Summer Island (1966) is a visual tribute to the island. [1]

Penobscot Indian Island Reservation is an Indian reservation for the Penobscot Tribe of Maine, a federally recognized tribe of the Penobscot in Penobscot County, Maine, United States, near Old Town. The population was 758 at the 2020 census. The reservation extends for many miles alongside 15 towns and two unorganized territories in a thin string along the Penobscot River, from its base at Indian Island, near Old Town and Milford, northward to the vicinity of East Millinocket, almost entirely in Penobscot County. A small, uninhabited part of the reservation used as a game preserve and hunting and gathering ground is in South Aroostook, Aroostook County, by which it passes along its way northward.
The Penobscot River is a 109-mile-long (175 km) river in the U.S. state of Maine. Including the river's West Branch and South Branch increases the Penobscot's length to 264 miles (425 km), making it the second-longest river system in Maine and the longest entirely in the state. Its drainage basin contains 8,610 square miles (22,300 km2).

Kenduskeag Stream is a 36.2-mile (58.3 km) stream in the U.S. state of Maine. It is a tributary of the Penobscot River. The stream rises at the outlet of Garland Pond in the town of Garland, and flows southeast through Corinth, Kenduskeag, and Glenburn, before it reaches the city of Bangor. Passing through downtown Bangor, the stream drops 100 feet (30 m) in 2 miles (3 km), flowing into the Penobscot between the two downtown bridges across the larger river. Kenduskeag means "eel weir place" in Penobscot.
Eagle Island is a 263-acre island in Penobscot Bay, Maine, United States, between North Haven and Deer Isle, in Hancock County. It is not part of the nearby Town of Deer Isle but is an unincorporated territory of the state. The island was conveyed to Samuel Quinn by John C. Gray on November 18, 1844, with the exception of a small lot containing Eagle Island Light, which Gray had previously deeded to the government. Quinn also bought from Gray one-half of Fling Island and "all Farming Tools, hay and neat stock and sheep belonging to said John C. Gray on said Eagle Island" for $1500. His descendants still own a majority of Eagle Island and continue to live there.
Little Deer Isle is an island in Penobscot Bay, lying just north of the town of Deer Isle, Maine, United States, of which it is a part. The island is served by Maine State Route 15 via the Deer Isle Bridge. The northern end of the island is called Eggemoggin and there is a small island with a lighthouse on it at the tip called Pumpkin Island. Little Deer is approximately four miles (6.4 km) long and connects to Deer Isle by way of a causeway. There are only about 300 year-round residents of Little Deer, but many more summer residents. There is abundant wildlife on the island including deer, fox, squirrels, wild turkeys, ospreys, and bald eagles.
South Twin Lake having about 3,200 acres (13 km2) is wholly within Penobscot County, Maine. It is about 6 miles (10 km) west of Millinocket, Maine and is part of the Pemadumcook Chain of Lakes. The lake is centered at 45°37.25′N68°51′W and has spillway elevation 492 feet (150 m) above sea level. It is part of the watershed of the West Branch of the Penobscot River.
The Bagaduce River is a tidal river in the Hancock County, Maine that empties into Penobscot Bay near the town of Castine. From the confluence of Black Brook and the outflow of Walker Pond, the river runs about 14 miles (23 km) north, northwest, and southwest, forming the border between Brooksville on its left bank and Sedgwick, Penobscot, and Castine on its right.
The Dead River is a 1.8-mile-long (2.9 km) arm of Alamoosook Lake in the town of Orland in Hancock County, Maine. Via Alamoosook Lake, the Narramissic River, and the Orland River, it is part of the Penobscot River watershed. It is formed by the junction of Moosehorn Stream and Hothole Stream and extends south to the main body of Alamoosook Lake.

The South Branch Marsh River is a 3.0-mile-long (4.8 km) tidal river in the towns of Prospect and Frankfort in Waldo County, Maine. It joins the North Branch Marsh River to form Marsh Bay, a short arm of the tidal Penobscot River.
The Stillwater River is an 11.5-mile-long (18.5 km) side channel of the Penobscot River in Maine. From its source in Old Town, the Stillwater runs 2.3 miles (3.7 km) northwest along the northeast side of Orson Island, the site of the Penobscot Indian Reservation. It then runs 9.2 miles (14.8 km) south along the west sides of Orson and Marsh islands, over three dammed falls. The stream rejoins the main stem of the Penobscot in Orono.

Deer Isle is an island in Hancock County, Maine, United States. There are two communities on the island, Deer Isle and Stonington. It is on the eastern side of Penobscot Bay, connected by road to the Maine mainland through Little Deer Isle. Its only vehicular connection to the mainland is State Route 15 over Deer Isle Bridge.
