Noida, short for New Okhla Industrial Development Authority, is a planned city located in Gautam Buddh Nagar district of the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh. It is a satellite city of Delhi and is a part of the National Capital Region (NCR) of India. As per provisional reports of Census of India, the population of Noida in 2011 was 642,381. The city is managed by New Okhla Industrial Development Authority (NOIDA). The district's administrative headquarters are in the nearby city of Greater Noida.

Originally from Bihar, Shivam hails from Kulehsra, Uttar Pradesh.Shivam passed his 12th and was previously engaged in cricket and was a part of the Kerala Junior state team. However, because of an injury, Shivam had to leave cricket and he started practicing shooting. Sports minister Kiran Rijiju congratulated Thakur on his win. 'Students Ratna' and 'Khel Gaurav' awards were also announced for Thakur. He is also the founder of School Games and Activity Development Foundation.
