Gregory Philip Smith (born 16 November 1988 in Leicester) is an English former cricketer. He was a right-handed opening batsman and occasional leg break bowler who last played for Nottinghamshire.
He attended Oundle School and then studied at Durham University,where he represented Durham UCCE.
In 2008,Smith represented the English U-19 cricket team against New Zealand,scoring 157 and 150 not out in the test matches and 81 in a Youth ODI.
Smith came through the junior set up at Leicestershire,and topped the first-class national batting averages in 2010. He continued to flourish in 2011,regularly batting in the number 3 position.
Smith and Josh Cobb hold the record for the best opening partnership in a limited overs match,for Leicestershire. The pair scored 235 against Somerset in May 2013,both scoring centuries.
He announced his retirement from the game in July 2017. Since retiring from cricket he qualified as a teacher. He taught in North London for 3 years before moving to teach at Shrewsbury School in Shropshire.

Paul Andrew Nixon is an English cricket coach and former professional cricketer who played for Leicestershire,England,England A,Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC) and Kent. He is a wicket-keeper and left-handed batsman. Nixon played in twenty international matches for the England cricket team,all within a four-month spell in 2007.
William Ingleby Jefferson is a former professional cricketer who played for Essex County Cricket Club,Nottinghamshire and Leicestershire in a 12-year career. He retired from the game in 2012 as a result of a chronic hip complaint. Standing 6 feet 10 inches (2.08 m) tall,he was the tallest player in county cricket during most of his career,and among the tallest professional cricketers ever.
Michael John Lumb is a former South African-born English cricketer,who played for Yorkshire,Hampshire,and Nottinghamshire at county level and England in Twenty20 International cricket and One Day International cricket. Born and raised in South Africa,Lumb is a left-handed opening batsman and a right-arm medium pace bowler. He became only the second cricketer after Dennis Amiss to score a century on ODI debut for England and ninth player overall to do so. Lumb was a member of the England team that won the 2010 ICC World Twenty20.
George Owen Dawkes was a first-class cricketer who played for Leicestershire between 1937 and 1939 and for Derbyshire between 1947 and 1961 as a wicket keeper and a lower-order right-handed batsman. During the 1949–50 season he toured India with a team of players making up a Commonwealth XI.
Kyle William Hogg is an English former cricketer. He was a left-handed batsman and a right-arm fast-medium bowler who played for Lancashire from 2001 to 2014. Between 2000–01 and 2002 Hogg represented the England under-19s in six youth Tests and 11 One Day Internationals (ODIs). In the 2006–07 season he travelled to New Zealand where he represented Otago as an overseas player. Hogg spent time on loan with Nottinghamshire and Worcestershire,both in 2007.
Luke Ronchi is a New Zealand-Australian cricket coach and a former cricketer. He represented both the Australia national cricket team and New Zealand national cricket team in international cricket. Ronchi is the only player to have played for both Australia and New Zealand in cricketing history and was part of the New Zealand World Cup side that finished runners-up in the 2015 Cricket World Cup,after their defeat in the final to Australia. He played for Wellington in New Zealand domestic matches and has played Twenty20 matches for a range of sides. He retired from international cricket in June 2017.

In 2011,the year Lancashire won the County Championship for the first time since 1950,Smith became the first Lancashire player to score a century and take four wickets in the same one-day match. In 2011/12 Smith played for the Matabeleland Tuskers in Zimbabwe as an overseas player in the domestic twenty20 competition.
