Greg Stainer (born 17 May 1976) is an English house, electronic dance music DJ, and producer. He is the co-creator and member of the electronic music duo Hollaphonic. [1]
Stainer first appeared on the music scene in the mid-1990s, DJ-ing in London clubs playing UK garage. In 1998, Stainer started producing his music and had his first commercially released track, "Weakness", released in the same year. [2] "Weakness" was a collaboration with MJ Cole which was released by Very Important Plastic (VIP) Records. At this time, Stainer hosted a show on the London pirate radio station London Underground. "Weakness" was featured on Warner Music's Pure Garage compilation album, Pure Garage Rewind Back to the Old Skool, mixed by DJ EZ. This was released on 3rd December 2007, and after two weeks of sale, it was awarded a UK gold disc status.
In 2002, Stainer relocated to Dubai, United Arab Emirates, where he began DJ residencies at various nightclubs in the city and began presenting a house music radio show called "Club Anthems" on UAE Radio 1. [3]
In 2010, he was awarded a top 10 position in DJ Magazine's Middle East & North Africa poll. [4] Additionally, the official video for Stainer's remix of "Skool Daze" in 2010 by Cherry V feat. Wiley gained over 120,000 views in just two weeks on Dailymotion. [5]
In January 2011, another of Stainer's tracks, "Ride," a collaboration with Oscar P, hit No. 5 on the Billboard Hot Dance Club Play break-out chart. That year, he also performed at the Creamfields Abu Dhabi event at Yas Island on the main stage alongside Deadmau5 and Katy B. Also in 2011, "Piracy Part 2" was released on Stained Records and received support from major artists such as Groove Armada, Tocadisco, Peter Gelderblom, Andi Durrant, Olav Basoski and Claude VonStroke. Stainer's music productions have been playlisted by clubs and radio DJs worldwide. His productions and remixes have received high ranking positions in the Beatport and traxsource online music charts. [7]
In 2012, Stainer released the single "Can't Take That Away" on the Hed Kandi label featuring the vocals of Roland Clark. The single was featured on three Hed Kandi compilations.

House is a genre of electronic dance music characterized by a repetitive four-on-the-floor beat and a typical tempo of 115–130 beats per minute. By early 1988, house became mainstream and supplanted the typical 80s music beat.
Funky house is a subgenre of house music that uses disco and funk samples, a funk-inspired bass line or a strong soul influence, combined with drum breaks that draw inspiration from 1970s and 1980s funk records. It often includes disco strings, though not consistently. Recognized by its specific sound, Funky house is characterized by basslines, swooshes, swirls, and other synthesized sounds which give the music a bouncy tempo. The Prototypes is a British drum and bass project by producer Nick White. Until May 2023, it was a duo alongside fellow producer Chris Garvey. UK garage, abbreviated as UKG, is a genre of electronic dance music which originated in England in the early to mid-1990s. The genre was most clearly inspired by garage house and jungle production methods, but also incorporates elements from dance-pop and R&B. It is defined by percussive, shuffled rhythms with syncopated hi-hats, cymbals, and snares, and may include either 4/4 house kick patterns or more irregular "2-step" rhythms. Garage tracks also commonly feature 'chopped up' and time-stretched or pitch-shifted vocal samples complementing the underlying rhythmic structure at a tempo usually around 130 BPM.
