Gregory Finnegan is a British actor. He best known for his roles as Dr Alex Arnott in EastEnders and as James Nightingale in Hollyoaks .
Finnegan studied at the Webber Douglas Academy of Dramatic Art. His first television acting role was as Gabriel Brennan on the Sky One drama Is Harry on the Boat? . He later appeared in the film Winter Solstice and on the Channel 4 drama The Courtroom .
Finnegan also made appearances on Mile High , Agatha Christie: A Life in Pictures , the Crime drama The Last Detective as well as the BBC One show Spooks . Finnegan joined the cast of Family Affairs in 2005 as Nigel Dudley. Afterwards, he played the role of Terry in the short drama Fuse and on Blitz as a computer Geek. He played the role of Dr Alex Arnott for one episode of EastEnders , [2] making an appearance on Doctors as Duncan Montague in 2011 and David Hewitt in 2012. Finnegan appeared on Valentine's Kiss as Henry Kendrick and as Owen Stanway in Casualty .
In January 2016, Finnegan joined the cast of Hollyoaks as James Nightingale. He was introduced as the lawyer of Cindy Cunningham (Stephanie Waring), before it was revealed that he was the son of Mac Nightingale (David Easter). Since his arrival, Finnegan's character James has been in a relationship with John Paul McQueen (James Sutton), involved in a love-triangle with characters Ste Hay (Kieron Richardson) and Harry Thompson (Parry Glasspool), as well as being involved in a historical abuse storyline with his father Mac. Finnegan was shortlisted for Best Actor at the 2017 British Soap Awards [3] and was also long-listed for Best Actor and Bad Boy at the Inside Soap Awards the same year [4] but did not make the shortlist [5] In 2019, Finnegan won the British Soap Award for Best Actor for his role in Hollyoaks. James Nightingale is a fictional character from the British soap opera Hollyoaks, played by Gregory Finnegan. The character made his first on-screen appearance on 12 January 2016. Finnegan's casting was announced in December 2015, and James was billed as a mysterious character and lawyer. His introduction to the show featured him attempting to convince Cindy Cunningham to take legal action against Mac Nightingale, in a bid to secure his assets. Having kept the character's identity concealed, writers implemented a story twist in which James is revealed to be Mac's son. Lysette Anthony was cast to play his mother Marnie Nightingale, a character which James features alongside most. Their on-screen partnership developed them into a trouble making and villainous duo. Writers played on their manipulative manner to the extent that James manages to con the entire Hutchinson family, out of their restaurant "The Hutch". As of 2024, He is the only Nightingale remaining following Warner’s departure in January 2024.
Scott Drinkwell is a fictional character from the British soap opera Hollyoaks, played by Ross Adams. The character made his first appearance on 27 April 2015. Producers asked Adams to audition for the role while he was working as a script editor on rival soap opera Emmerdale. The actor forgot his lines during his screen test but was still offered the role. The character was billed as a "troublesome new relative" joining the show's established O'Connor family. He is the cousin of Sinead O'Connor and nephew to Diane O'Connor. Executive producer Bryan Kirkwood introduced the character to cause conflict with other characters.
