The Guelph Gryphons are the athletic teams that represent the University of Guelph in Guelph, Ontario, Canada. The university's varsity teams compete in the Ontario University Athletics conference of the U Sports (OUA's), and, where applicable, in the west division. The university teams are often referred to as the Gryphs, which is short for the school's mascot, Gryph, the gryphon.
The Owen Sound Attack are a junior ice hockey team in the Ontario Hockey League based in Owen Sound, Ontario, Canada. Based in Owen Sound since 1989, and operating under the current name since 2000, the Attack play their home games at the J.D. McArthur Arena inside the Harry Lumley Bayshore Community Centre.
The Sleeman Centre is a 4,715 seat multi-purpose facility in Guelph, Ontario, Canada. The Sleeman Centre has hosted concerts, sporting and family events as well as trade shows and conferences. It is home to the Guelph Storm of the major junior Ontario Hockey League. The arena hosted the 2002 Memorial Cup and the 2008 Founders Cup tournament.
The Ontario Lacrosse Association is a not-for-profit sport organization and a member association of the Canadian Lacrosse Association, the national governing body for lacrosse in Canada. The Guelph Royals name has been used for several hockey teams based in Guelph, Ontario. The most prominent was a junior ice hockey team in the Ontario Hockey Association from 1960 to 1963, that played home games at the Guelph Memorial Gardens. The junior Royals were affiliated with the NHL's New York Rangers.

The 1981–82 OJHL season was the 10th season of the Ontario Junior Hockey League (OJHL). The 11 teams of the league played a 50-game season. The top four teams of each division make the playoffs.
Joey Cupido is a Canadian professional lacrosse player who plays for the Colorado Mammoth in the National Lacrosse League. Cupido was also a two time All-Canadian football player with the McMaster University Marauders in the CIS.
Dana Dobbie is a Canadian women’s lacrosse player and coach. Having played with the Maryland Terrapins at the collegiate level, she has also competed with the Canadian national team, winning the silver medal at the 2013 FIL World Cup. In 2016, she was selected by the Baltimore Ride as their first-ever selection in the inaugural United Women's Lacrosse League Draft. She also coaches at Loyola University.

The women's team is known as Guelph Union and competes in the League1 Ontario women's division. Both teams initially played at the University of Guelph's Alumni Stadium, but moved to Centennial Bowl in 2023.
Norman Willard Jary was a Canadian politician and broadcaster who served as Mayor of Guelph 1970 from 1985. He is the longest serving mayor in Guelph’s history. Outside of politics, Jary served as the news and sports director of CJOY and had a one year stint as the play-by-play announcer of the New York Rangers.
