Guendalina Sartori (born 8 August 1988) is an Italian archer. A gold medalist at the World Archery Championships, European Games and the Mediterranean Games, she competed in the 2016 Summer Olympics, finishing in fourth in the women's team event.
Guendalina Sartori was born on 8 August 1988 in Monselice in the northern Italian province of Padua. She is a member of the Italian Air Force. [2]
Following her fourth-placed finish at the 2016 Olympics with Lucilla Boari and Claudia Mandia, the publication of a story in Italian newspaper QS Quotidiano Sportivo in which the trio were described as "chubby" ignited controversy in Italy which led to the dismissal of the newspaper's editor. Sartori first took up archery in 2000. She won gold medal in the women's team event at the 2011 World Archery Championships with Natalia Valeeva and Jessica Tomasi, [5] but the following year narrowly missed out on selection for the 2012 Summer Olympics, ultimately acting as the reserve archer for the Italian team. [2]
Sartori had a doubly successful competition at the 2013 Mediterranean Games, combining with Natalia Valeeva and Claudia Mandia in the women's team event to defeat Spain to win the gold medal, [6] before defeating Valeeva and Spain's Mirene Exteberria to win the women's individual title the following day. [7] Another women's team title followed in 2015 at the inaugural European Games in Baku, Sartori partnering with Valeeva and Elena Tonetta to win the gold medal over Belarus. [8]
Sartori was a member of the Italian team that won three qualification spots at the 2016 Summer Olympics at the final qualification tournament held in conjunction with the third stage of the 2016 Archery World Cup, defeating Chinese Taipei to enter both the women's individual and team Olympics events. [2] [9] Sartori was selected as the team's captain for her Olympic debut following the retirement of six-time Olympian Valeeva, joining fellow debutants Lucilla Boari and Claudia Mandia in Rio de Janeiro. Sartori was most successful in the women's team event, where she, Mandia, and Tonetta progressed to the semi-finals before losing to Russia and then Chinese Taipei in the bronze medal match. [10] [11] The fourth-place finish represented Italy's highest ever placing achieved in a women's Olympic archery event. [11] Sartori did not advance far in the women's individual tournament, defeating Colombia's Carolina Aguirre in the opening elimination round before losing to India's Deepika Kumari in the second round. Natalia Valeeva is a naturalized Italian archer. She is a five-time Olympian and former world number one, and a native of Moldova, having represented the Unified Team, Moldova and Italy, at the Olympic Games of 1992, 1996, 2000, 2004, 2008 and 2012. She won the individual and team bronze medals in the 1992 Olympic Games.
Almudena Gallardo Vicente is a Spanish archer who competed in the 2000 and 2004 Summer Olympics.
Ana María Rendón Martínez is a Colombian recurve archer. She has competed in the Olympic Games three times and is a two-time gold medalist at the Pan American Games.
Aída Nabila Román Arroyo is a Mexican archer. A three-time Olympian, she won silver medal in the women's individual event at the 2012 Summer Olympics and was the women's World Indoor Archery Champion in 2014. She has additionally achieved medal finishes at the World Archery Championships, Archery World Cup, and Pan American Games.
Mariana Avitia Martínez is a Mexican recurve archer. She was the first Mexican to win an Olympic medal in archery after taking bronze in the women's individual event at the 2012 Summer Olympics. She is also the youngest Mexican athlete to compete in two Olympic Games, contesting both the 2008 Summer Olympics and 2010 Summer Youth Olympics by the age of seventeen.
Deepika Kumari is an Indian professional archer. Currently ranked the World No. 2, she competes in the event of archery. She won a gold medal in the 2010 Commonwealth games in the women's individual recurve event. She also won a gold medal in the same competition in the women's team recurve event along with Dola Banerjee and Bombayala Devi. She has won individual gold in two of the three stages of the World Cup—one in Guatemala and another in Paris. In the process she also reclaimed the number one ranking after nine years in Paris World Cup. Deepika Kumari won individual gold medals at the Archery World Cup Stage 1. Deepika Kumari also defeated Mexico by 5–1 in the final to win gold in Paris.

The tournament doubled as the principal qualification tournament for the 2012 Olympics.

David Pasqualucci is an Italian competitive archer. He won a silver medal in the men's team recurve at the 2015 World Championships, and also competed as a member of Italy's archery squad at the 2016 Summer Olympics. He currently trains under the tutelage of his coaches Fabio Pivari and Wietse van Alten, a Sydney 2000 Olympian from the Netherlands, for the Italian team, while shooting at the Tempio di Diana Archery Range in Rome.
Ane Marcelle Gomes dos Santos is a Brazilian competitive archer. She won a bronze medal in the women's individual recurve tournament at the 2014 Pan American Archery Championships in Buenos Aires, Argentina, and eventually finished as one of the top 16 finalists at the 2016 Summer Olympics. Dos Santos currently trains under the tutelage of head coach Evandro Azevedo for the Brazilian national squad, while shooting at Iris Archery Range on the outskirts of her hometown Maricá in Rio de Janeiro.

Lucilla Boari is an Italian recurve archer who has represented Italy at the 2016 Summer Olympics and at the 2020 Summer Olympics. Carolina Aguirre Giraldo is a Colombian recurve archer who competed at the 2016 Summer Olympics. She made her international debut at the fourth stage of the 2015 Archery World Cup in Medellín, and was later selected as the third member of the Colombian Olympic archery team.
Italy competed at the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo. Originally scheduled to take place from 24 July to 9 August 2020, the Games were postponed to 23 July to 8 August 2021, because of the COVID-19 pandemic. The women's individual recurve competition at the 2019 European Games was held from 21 to 26 June 2019 at the Olympic Sports Complex in Minsk, Belarus. It was the second time the event was held as part of the European Games archery programme. A total of 48 archers from 32 different nations entered the competition, with a maximum of three entries per country. The event offered one qualifying spot for the women's individual event at the 2020 Summer Olympics for any archer reaching the semi-finals from a nation that had not already qualified. The defending champion, Karina Winter of Germany, did not take part following her retirement from the sport.
