Gustavo Lima is a Portuguese sailor. [2] Competing in the 2000 Summer Olympics, he finished 6th in the laser class. [3] He improved his position by one place, finishing 5th at the 2004 Olympics. [4] He finished 4th at the 2008 Summer Olympics. [5] He also competed at the 2012 Summer Olympics in the Men's Laser class. [6]

Sailing/Yachting is an Olympic sport starting from the Games of the 1st Olympiad. With the exception of 1904 and possibly the canceled 1916 Summer Olympics, sailing has always been included on the Olympic schedule. The Sailing program of 1996 consisted of a total of ten sailing classes (disciplines). For each class, with the exception of the Soling, eleven races were scheduled from 22 July to 2 August 1996 off the coast of Savannah at the Wassaw Sound. For the Soling ten fleetraces were scheduled followed by a series of matchraces for the top 6 boats of the fleetrace result.

Portugal competed at the 2012 Summer Olympics, held in London, from 27 July to 12 August 2012. The nation celebrated its centennial anniversary participating in the Olympics, having participated at every Summer edition since 1912. The Olympic Committee of Portugal sent a total of 77 athletes to the Games, 45 men and 32 women, to compete in 13 sports. Despite having the same number of athletes as in Beijing, Portugal did not qualify any athletes in archery, fencing and taekwondo.

Juan Ignacio Maegli Agüero is a Guatemalan sailor who competed at the 2008 and 2012 Summer Olympics in the Laser class event where he finished 33rd and 9th respectively. He was the flag bearer for Guatemala during the 2012 Olympic opening ceremony.

Bruno Fontes Ferreira da Silva is a Brazilian sailor. Born in Paraná but raised in Santa Catarina, he started sailing at the age of 8 in Florianópolis. Most of his success came in the men's laser class, appearing in two Olympic Games, 27th place at the 2008 Summer Olympics and in 13th place at the 2012 Summer Olympics.

Zsombor Berecz is a Hungarian sailor. He competed at the 2020 Summer Olympics in Finn class, winning the silver medal, and in the 2008 and 2012 Summer Olympics in the Men's Laser class, where he finished 29th and 21st respectively.

Jorge Manuel Roxo Martins de Lima is a Portuguese sailor who specialized in Soozie (49er). He represented Portugal, along with his partner Francisco Andrade, at the 2008, 2016 and 2020 Summer Olympics. He has trained for Cascais Naval Club throughout most of his sporting career under his personal coach Pedro Pinto. As of September 2014, Lima is ranked twenty-fourth in the world for the men's skiff class by the International Sailing Federation, following his successes at the European Championships, and 2014 ISAF Sailing World Championships in Santander, Spain.

Luis Martínez Doreste is a retired Spanish sailor, who specialized in the Laser class. He placed fourth in his respective category at the 2003 ISAF Sailing World Championships in Cádiz, and also obtained top eleven finishes in two editions of the Olympic Games. Throughout his sporting career, Martinez trained full-time for the Royal Gran Canaria YC in his native Las Palmas under his personal coach Antón Garrote. Coming from a sailing pedigree, Martinez also competed with his brother and 470 sailor Gustavo Martínez Doreste in two Olympics.

Michael Leigh is a Canadian sailor, who specialized in one-person (Laser) and two-person dinghy (470) classes. Representing Canada in two editions of the Olympic Games, he finished ninth in the Laser class at Beijing 2008, and then twenty-fifth in the 470 class at London 2012 with his partner Luke Ramsay. Leigh has also been training throughout his sailing career for the Royal Vancouver Yacht Club under his Australian-born personal coach Joshua Chant.

Maciej Tadeusz Grabowski is a Polish sailor, who specialized in the Laser class. He had an impressive track record of two career European titles, and finished only in the top 16 in three editions of the Olympic Games, representing his nation Poland. Throughout his sporting career, Grabowski trained for Hestia Sopot Sailing Club and then became a member of the Polish Sailing Association under head coach Tomasz Chamera. As of June 2015, Grabowski is ranked outside the top 200 for the Laser class by the International Sailing Federation.
