The first election to Gwynedd County Council (at the time known as Caernarfonshire and Merionethshire County Council) was held on 4 May 1995. It was followed by the 1999 election. Results are drawn from the national [1] press.

Gwynedd is a county in Wales, sharing borders with Powys, Conwy, Denbighshire, Anglesey over the Menai Strait, and Ceredigion over the River Dyfi. The scenic Llŷn Peninsula and most of Snowdonia National Park are in Gwynedd. Bangor is the home of Bangor University. In the northern part of the county, the other main settlements are Caernarfon, Bethesda, Ffestiniog, Llanddeiniolen, Llanllyfni, Porthmadog and Pwllheli. The largest settlement in the south is Tywyn.
Arfon is a constituency of the House of Commons of the Parliament of the United Kingdom. Although the constituency is relatively large by geographical area, it is a predominantly urban rather than rural seat, with the majority of the population living in the two towns on which the constituency is based, Bangor and Caernarfon. "Arfon" is a historical name for the area, meaning "facing Anglesey"; it is also the name of the former district council. This seat was created by the Welsh Boundary Commission in time for the 2010 general election, and replaced the old seat of Caernarfon. Bangor was in the old seat of Conwy. The same boundaries were used for the Arfon Welsh Assembly constituency in the 2007 Welsh Assembly election.
Dwyfor Meirionnydd is a constituency of the House of Commons of the Parliament of the United Kingdom. The seat was created by the Welsh Boundary Commission for the 2010 general election, and replaced the old north Wales seat of Meirionnydd Nant Conwy. Dwyfor Meirionnydd is bordered to the north by Arfon and Aberconwy. The same boundaries were used for the Dwyfor Meirionnydd Welsh Assembly constituency in the 2007 Welsh Assembly election.
North Wales is an electoral region of the National Assembly for Wales, consisting of nine constituencies. The region elects thirteen members, nine directly elected constituency members and four additional members. The electoral region was first used in the 1999 Welsh Assembly election, when the Assembly for Wales was created.

Llais Gwynedd is a small regionalist political party based in Gwynedd in North Wales. The party formed following the Plaid Cymru executive's proposal to more than halve the number of primary schools in Gwynedd by closing rural schools. Many of the party's members are former members of Plaid. The campaign was founded as Llais y Bobl, or "People's Voice", but the name was changed because there is another party by that name in Blaenau Gwent.
Ganllwyd is a small village and community in southern Gwynedd, Wales. It lies in the Snowdonia National Park to the north of Dolgellau. A470 passes through it. The Community population taken at the 2011 Census was 179.
Buan is a community in the Welsh county of Gwynedd, located on the Llŷn Peninsula. It includes the villages of Boduan and Rhydyclafdy, and has a population of 469, increasing to 484 at the 2011 Census.
Sarn Meyllteyrn is a village and former civil parish in the Welsh county of Gwynedd. It is in the west of the Llŷn Peninsula, 8.4 miles (13.5 km) west of Pwllheli and 24.3 miles (39.2 km) south-west of Caernarfon. The village is often referred to simply as Sarn. The parish was abolished in 1934 and divided between the communities of Botwnnog and Tudweiliog.
The 2012 Gwynedd Council election took place on 3 May 2012 to elect members of Gwynedd Council in Wales. Seventy four council seats were up for re-election, however, no candidates were nominated for the Bryncrug/Llanfihangel ward, and a by-election was held in June 2012.
The 2015 United Kingdom general election in Wales was held on 7 May 2015 and all 40 seats in Wales were contested. The election for each seat was conducted on the basis of first-past-the-post.
Siân Gwenllian is a Welsh politician, who was elected to the National Assembly for Wales in the 2016 election. She represents the constituency of Arfon as a member of Plaid Cymru, and holds the seat with a majority of 4,162 votes. Following the election, she was appointed Plaid Cymru's spokesperson for Local Government, the Welsh Language, Equalities and Planning. She is currently a member of the Culture, Welsh Language and Communications Committee and sits on the and the Equality, Local Government and Communities Committee in the Assembly.

Arllechwedd is the name of an electoral ward in Gwynedd, Wales. It lies east of the city of Bangor and is the most northeasterly ward in Gwynedd, bordering Conwy County Borough. Arllechwedd ward includes the villages of Llandegai, Llanllechid, Tal-y-bont and Abergwyngregyn. It elects a councillor to Gwynedd Council.
Hendre is one of eight electoral wards in the city of Bangor, Gwynedd, Wales. The ward covers part of the city south of the city centre, including West End and Glan Adda. It elects two councillors to Bangor City Council and one county councillor to Gwynedd Council.
Deiniol is one of eight electoral wards in the city of Bangor, Gwynedd, Wales. The ward covers the centre of the city including the High Street and Bangor Cathedral. It elects two councillors to Bangor City Council and one county councillor to Gwynedd Council.
