Gyro13 (fullname Gyro13: Steam Copter Arcade HD) is a video game developed by Czech company Cinemax. It is a physics-based helicopter arcade game. The game features full HD graphics. It was released for iOS in 2011 and later Greenlighted for Steam.

Gameplay

Gameplay is similar to Choplifter. Player controls a gyrocopter. His goal is to rescue people in a mine that's filling with deadly gas. He has to manage it in time limit. He also has to avoid the walls and obstacles. If his vehicle is too damaged, it will blow up. The game contains 24 levels. [2] [3]

Reception

The game received mostly positive reviews from critics. It actually holds 75% on Metacritic. [4] The game was also gained nomination in Booom Award in category Best Czech video game in 2011. [5]

It is a 3D polygonal remake of the 1982 game Choplifter by Dan Gorlin. inXile hired Gorlin to serve as a design consultant for the game. As in the original game, players fly missions in a helicopter, defeating enemies and rescuing people. Originally released for Windows, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, the game was subsequently ported to the Ouya as well as Android devices. Choplifter HD was lauded for being true to the original, retaining the gameplay the series was known for, but was criticized for its high level of difficulty.

The video game industry in the Czech Republic has produced numerous globally successful video games such as Operation Flashpoint: Cold War Crisis and the subsequent ArmA series, the Mafia series, Truck Simulator series, Kingdom Come: Deliverance, the Samorost series and others. There were 300–400 video game developers and around 30 video game companies focusing on video game development in 2014. In 2017 it was 1,100 developers and 47 companies.
