H.R. Cline was an American politician who served as the sixth Mayor of Tulsa from 1904 to 1905. He was a real estate investor and businessman before his election. During his tenure he secured private funding for the 11th Street Bridge and converted the Tulsa Fire Department from a volunteer to a paid fire department. [1]
The Tulsa race massacre,also known as the Tulsa race riot or the Black Wall Street massacre,was a two-day-long white supremacist terrorist massacre that took place between May 31 and June 1,1921,when mobs of white residents,some of whom had been appointed as deputies and armed by city government officials,attacked black residents and destroyed homes and businesses of the Greenwood District in Tulsa,Oklahoma. The event is considered one of the worst incidents of racial violence in American history. The attackers burned and destroyed more than 35 square blocks of the neighborhood—at the time one of the wealthiest black communities in the United States,colloquially known as "Black Wall Street".

Dewey Follett Bartlett Sr. was an American politician who served as the 19th governor of Oklahoma from 1967 to 1971,following his fellow Republican,Henry Bellmon. In 1966,he became the first Roman Catholic elected governor of Oklahoma,defeating the Democratic nominee,Preston J. Moore of Oklahoma City. He was defeated for reelection in 1970 by Tulsa attorney David Hall in the closest election in state history. He was elected to the United States Senate in 1972 and served one term. In 1978,he was diagnosed with lung cancer and did not run for reelection that year. He died of complications of lung cancer two months after retiring from the Senate in 1979.

The mayor is elected by the entire population and each of the 9 Councilors are elected from districts based on population.

Brian John Bingman is an American politician from the U.S. state of Oklahoma who has served in elected and appointed offices since the 1990s. A member of the Republican Party,he was first elected to the Sapulpa city commission in 1992,before being elected mayor by his fellow commissioners in 1994. He would serve in both of these offices until 2004,when he was elected to the Oklahoma House of Representatives to represent the 30th district. After one term in the house,Bingman ran for the 12th district of the Oklahoma Senate in 2006 and would hold the seat until term limited in 2016. An oil industry executive and political figure in Tulsa,Bartlett was the Republican nominee for mayor of Tulsa in the 2009 election,and was elected as Tulsa's 39th mayor on November 10,2009. He was re-elected in 2013,but was defeated in his second reelection bid in 2016.

He is the first African-American to represent the district. In July 2023,he announced he would not seek re-election to the Oklahoma House in order to run in the 2024 Tulsa mayoral election.
The Tulsa Fire Department is the fire department for the City of Tulsa,Oklahoma,serving approximately 400,000 citizens out of their 29 fire stations in an area of 201 square miles. The department was founded as a volunteer fire department on June 6,1900,following a fire that broke out in Downtown Tulsa in 1897. The Tulsa Fire Department headquarters is located at 1760 Newblock Park Drive and the current fire chief is Michael Baker.
