James L. Maxwell was an American politician who served as the 29th Mayor of Tulsa between 1958 and 1966.
James Livingston Maxwell was born on May 12,1926,in Tulsa to William Maxwell and Mary O'Donnell. During World War II,he served in the United States Army in Burma,India,and China. He graduated from Oklahoma State University in 1950. [1] A Democrat,Maxwell was elected Mayor of Tulsa in 1958,becoming the youngest Mayor of Tulsa. [2] In 1966,he lost his re-election campaign to the Republican nominee James Hewgley,Jr. Maxwell ran again in 1968,but lost the election. He never married and died on October 18,1984. [1]

Dewey Follett Bartlett Sr. was an American politician who served as the 19th governor of Oklahoma from 1967 to 1971,following his fellow Republican,Henry Bellmon. In 1966,he became the first Roman Catholic elected governor of Oklahoma,defeating the Democratic nominee,Preston J. Moore of Oklahoma City. He was defeated for reelection in 1970 by Tulsa attorney David Hall in the closest election in state history. He was elected to the United States Senate in 1972 and served one term. In 1978,he was diagnosed with lung cancer and did not run for reelection that year. He died of complications of lung cancer two months after retiring from the Senate in 1979.
Kathryn Louise Taylor was elected the 38th mayor of Tulsa,Oklahoma on April 4,2006,in the city's largest voter turnout for a mayoral election. She defeated Republican incumbent Mayor Bill Lafortune to become Tulsa's second female mayor,after Susan Savage first filled the post in 1992. Taylor is married to Bill Lobeck,CEO of Vanguard Automotive Group. Taylor served as Oklahoma Secretary of Commerce and Tourism in Governor Brad Henry's administration from 2003 to 2006. She resigned from that post in order to run for Mayor.

An oil industry executive and political figure in Tulsa,Bartlett was the Republican nominee for mayor of Tulsa in the 2009 election,and was elected as Tulsa's 39th mayor on November 10,2009. He was re-elected in 2013,but was defeated in his second reelection bid in 2016.

The 2022 Tulsa municipal elections were held on August 23,2022. A top two runoff election was scheduled for November 8 if no candidate receives a majority vote. All nine city council seats and the city auditor are elected to two year terms. The filing period was June 13–15. Incumbent Mayor G.T. Bynum is not up for reelection until 2024. All nine city council seats will have contested elections. City Auditor Cathy Carter was re-elected without opposition.

A runoff,if necessary,will be held November 5,2024. The official candidate filing period is in June 2024.
